My pup of 16 years hasn't been well the last two days. Now she has blood in her stool. Fuck.

My wife is bringing the dog and we are headed to the vet.

I know she is 16 and I have no illusions about that, but I have been dreading these moments for a few years now. So far she has been very healthy for her age.

I'm trying to stay positive, and hopes it isn't real bad news.

Hoping for the best Brian. You have some cool dogs and I know you love them like your own little girls.

Thanks Peeps.

I hope she is OK. I don't know what is wrong with her, but it can't be good.

I've had Mopar longer than I have had a wife. :)

Just logged in and saw this.
Hang in there, Brian. 16 years is a good run, he still may have a couple left.
They are like kids sometimes...

Best wishes for your pooch. Do what you know is right, and you know what is right when it's time, even though it may not feel right.....

I've had Mopar longer than I have had a wife. :)

Sorry to hear this Brian, I had my son of 15 years put down this year and it sucked. I also had him longer then had been married. If I could have kept him alive forever and traded my marriage in I would have :D shit did I say that out loud...........

Best of luck to the pup my friend. One of the biggest reasons we don't have another dog now, it was one of the hardest things I have had to do as adult is watch him age and pass.

Because even when you're mad at your stupid dog, unless he bit your hand off, you can't help but pet him 5 minutes later. That's why.

My dogs rarely make me mad...Regardless as to whether what they do/how they act is amusing or makes you want to kill them, after a minute, they still make you laugh or smile....not many other living creatures can accomplish that.

Thinking good thoughts and saying a prayer for you and Mopar. Not much in this world worse than what you're going through. Just went through the same. Can't say enough about how cool it was for the inmates here to understand.

Why is that? I can get all puffed up at my kids but my Dog....frustration lasts a whole 9 milliseconds.

Let us know Brian. Prayers for Mopar.

Let us know Brian. Prayers for Mopar.

Unconditional love, they have this calming effect on us and that is why they are used as service dogs. The greatest creatures we've ever known, and it pisses me off to no fucking end when they are abused and mistreated. These creatures would die protecting us, we are their whole world. I know when I am down my dogs pay extra close attention to me and it makes me feel better. I can go on for days on this topic

Sorry peeps for the absence. I had to check out for a bit.

The doctor examined her and said she didn't seem to be in any pain, xrays don't show any intestinal blockage, but her liver, kidney, and spleen are "hazy" and that could be bad. They took a blood sample and we will know the results later today.

To be honest, I didn't stay for the rest of the consult, I started getting teary while the doctor was talking about her organs and I walked out after that, I sat on the curb outside and cried like a damn baby, just typing this out my eyes are welling up.

Gave her some medicine. Crossing fingers. I love that dog.

Thanks for the kinds words and thoughts. My family appreciates all of it.

Sorry for such a short response.

I have given her the best life I always could. The best food, her own dog beds to sleep in, trips to the desert and river, camping trips, cruising the motorhome, hangin at the shop, homedepot trips. I was so happy that she got a half acre to roam for her golden years. She is still going and has made it the longest of all her peers, and for that I am forever humbled and grateful.

Spend as much time with her as you can. I had gotten similar news with my Lab and with meds he bounced back for a short while but it didn't last long.
Completely understand about the tears, I've been dehydrated for a month now :(
