Portland Isn’t A Destination For Most, Especially For Boating. But It’s Damn Good Boating.

Fall is in full swing here in the PNW. That said, no rain, temps in the high 50s, river is pretty clean. Let’s Go!

Portland doesn’t seem like a boating destination (or a destination at all) but there is 100s of miles of navigable water. It’s not the Delta, and it sure as hell ain’t LOTO, but if you like to run miles, it doesn’t disappoint.

Portland is on the list of places I would like to boat in the future. Somewhat of a bucketlist trip is to launch in Tri cities and boat down to Astoria. People do not realize there's boating beyond sweating worse than whore in church in Havasu or LOTO.

I was just up there visiting family last weekend. If were feasible to tow my boat up there, I would absolutely consider boating up there. You guys get out on the water a lot!!! like impressively a lot!!!! I thought I was on the water a lot, I went 5 weekends straight, took one off, then went 5 more last year. Id need to plan a trip for longer than a weekend and for a warmer time of year.

These pics are taken at Swan Island on the Willamette River, which is about 5 miles down stream of downtown Portland and about 7 miles up from the mouth of the Columbia river. From these pics its 90 miles to the ocean to the West, and East you can travel 200 miles. @buck35 lives up to the East, as does @chadzilla and several other members.

Anyone interested should schedule a trip to Crescent Bar when there's a good concert in The Gorge which is only 10 or 15 miles away. Both places are awesome.
