I'm looking for a new one , it needs to be semi quiet and reliable. Who likes what? And why.

If he comes back with "Well, I airbrush and face paint at craft shows..." I'm out. General purpose, Hitachi "hotdog". Not too loud, and I have done zero to one I have beat the hell out of for 10 years. As in chained to the truck, rain snow and trashed. I keep a Horrible Freight 10g at the river place for tires...and a 22cfm gas wheelbarrow in my hauler trailer...depends on the need.

Running staple guns etc. I already have a 30 gallon in my shop , but need a small pancake type for an upcoming job, and quiet is a requirement. The little jobby I have now is loud as hell.

Face paint...yeah thanks for that.

If you're runnin a finish nailer, may try the DeWalt battery job. My brother used one on his kitchen remodel...doesn't have air tools, so it was cheaper for him. Other option is run what you have, and a long hose setup.

I got a senco tiny little thing at Dixieline works great for little quick fixes or a few shots, to air up a trailer tire it has to click on 2/3 times, it’s also super quiet.

I have 4 or 5 air compressor ‘s and got tired of always hauling around some big old thing to shoot on a stick of corner bead... works great for small projects.

It was $119

I use this exact compressor for my finish guns and it works great, and super quiet. They will not put out enough air for a framing gun, doesn't have enough volume. Never tried to air up a tire with it, but I'm sure you'd be there awhile.. But for small guns and staplers works great!

Thanks guys , I like the senco and I'll drop by HD and check out the porter cable as well.
Too many air tools to swap these to battery stuff monkeyswrench. If not that's the way I would go.

I have the 1 Gal Senco. Just went to the garage to test dB level. It's 69dB holding the meter right next to it, and goes down to 61dB 3 feet away. It would be better if it came with twin tanks, runs low on air pretty fast to even inflating a flat tire. A 10 gal reserve tank should be used for extended runs.
About the same specs as the AB5 by Rolair

Another fan of the little Sencos. Quiet and very light weight.

I have the senco and it’s a great compressor however if you hook up a 15ga finish nailer to install a door jam or something you better be patient or you’ll turn that nail gun into a nail starter. All the pin nailers and Brad nailers do fine.

Hmm, food for thought there.

I have the Rigid 6 gallon I use in my toy hauler for tires and such. I really like it is powerful and relatively quiet compared to my Craftsman 40 gallon at home. It fills up my 37's from 10# to 45# in about 3 minutes each.

The only nozzle I found that works, is accurate and lasts. HF $35 and they go fast:

150 PSI minimum compressor.
Always figure working pressure to be 1/4 less than max pressure.

Tires on our trucks and 5th wheel ask for 110 PSI and the two 125 PSI compressors we have just couldn't make the cut. I'm always checking and adjusting the tire pressure and want the job easy. Not waiting for the compressor to catch up or dealing with yet another broken HF /Walmart/Vato Zone pressure nozzle.

The no tank 150's are amazing. Fast and strong but hard to find anymore. Monster airflow.

I have the HF 150 with a tank and it does the job well, been holding up fine. On sale now:

I have one of these. It’s loud and heavy but mobile with wheels. Been running it for 7 years now and not one problem.

On another topic, do any of you change your oil in your air compressor? Or even add oil from the first time filling it up?

I have checked the oil, but it never needs any.

The little Senco is quiet but is super small and doesn’t keep up well for hanging doors or continuous use. These Rolair units are super quiet . I’ve bought 4 of them now and every time one is on a job site people comment on how quiet it is . Again , they can’t keep up as well as an old oiled dual tank Emglo or similar , and you’re not nailing off a roof or shear panel with it, but it’s great for little day to day stuff plus they just came out with this same one with a bigger tank on it .
