I've never been to a Popeye's Chicken and they recently built one around the corner from my jobsite so I decided to try it out. I just wanted a 5 pack of chicken strips, just chicken, no sides, no drink, just chicken, how much could that be? $12.35 with tax! That's for 5 chicken or whatever kind of flat, ribbony, chewy product they are passing for chicken that's been breaded with peppery corn flakes.

That's the first and last time I'm going there. For $12 I can go to an Alberto's style Mexican restaurant and get a big ass burrito that I can get 2 meals out of that will fill me up and leave me satisfied.

It’s 12 now for a JJ sandwich, subway, McDonald’s, jack in the crack etc.

Hell krispy krunchy gas station chicken is right at that for a 5 pc tender, 9 for a 3 and that’s just a biscuit…

For what it’s worth I had the maintenance contract on the buildings of nine Popeyes locations from 17-19. I wouldn’t eat there if you paid me.

At the “bertos” places, I have never made a burrito last 2 meals. 😀
I always get the chorizo and egg and potato. NO CHEEZE!!
Before the price hike on everything, those $12 burritos were 7 and change ☹️

I wonder if Chik fil a is worth the hype. Probably do good if one was built somewhere in Mohave County. The one time I pulled into one it was a Sunday.

Jollibee is the new fried chicken game in town. 3 pcs of chicken with mashed potato's, or fries, a biscuit, and a drink for $13 No white meat.

Popeye's chicken is decent, just order their specials. One special per order, but you can make as many orders as you want. Otherwise it's too expensive for my cheap ass.

To me Chick Fil A is mostly hype. Nothing spectacular about it. And yes, they don’t put condiments on anything by default.

I’m not even sure they have Mayo if you asked for it, I just use their sauces on the sandwich.

Waffle fries are good though. Lemonade is good too.

Agreed, better chicken sandwiches than McD's or Carls but not amazing. Have you tried their Frosted Lemonade 😍

5 ala carte chicken strips at Raising Cane's will run $9.95 +tax. It's all over anymore.

What's Publix charging for a basket of spicy fried chicken now a days? Used to be $10 and that was my lunch for 3 days.

Dude have you had the blueberry muffins at Krispy Krunchy Chicken? They aren’t on the menu, damn they are good. I got them by accident a couple weeks ago.

The Popeyes chicken sandwich isn’t bad but holy hell their service and process sucks 🤣

That's what I do too because the sides there suck.
The Texas toast is good, but frankly, all of it is pretty greasy. If you eat one of the combos with the fries, toast and strips, it just sits like a rock in your gut and the grease trail hangs in your throat. I don't know why that shit is so popular.

Jollibee is like the Filipino McDonalds. They set up shop on West Covina and now they're opening restaurants.

They have a kick ass Peac-Mango pie that has the texture of oldschool McD pies. They hVe a funky spaghetti too.

But the chicken tastes like homemade friend chicken

I was on the road with a guy who works for me. We had to stop for lunch and he wanted Popeyes. Had to bite my lip, I don't do fast food, never been to a Popeyes. I offered something healthier, but he didn't even acknowledge it lol. So, I'm the nice boss and go to Popeys. Holy fuck that shit is nasty. Exactly how you described it. Who eats that crap? Fuck fast food to begin with...

No but now I’m going to have to ask for them damnit 😂

Someone mentioned Jollibee… The Filipinos back home in hawaii love that shit… I’ve never tried it.

I’m a sucker for a Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich add pepper jack… Secondary is boat and motor Krispy Krunchy when at the lake lol

Talk to text damn my autocorrect was bad 🤣

If your shopping a Publix then your on the more affordable side of the country. Fast food works are not making $20 minimum wage over there.

Btw I like shopping at Publix when I’m in Florida.

Dude your basically ordered chicken nuggets!

Give us a review when you order of the adult menu and eat chicken of the bone like a grown up.
I wanted something I could wolf down and not make a mess. I didn’t want compressed mechanically separated chicken-like substance breaded and fried. Usually the strips are whole meat, but I have no idea where the meat-like substance they used in the strips can from.

I used to love Zankou Chicken. Their garlic sauce is crack. $17 for a chicken tarna plate now is just robbery

Think Fast Food prices are Crazy Stupid now? Wait until the $20 Minimum Wage kicks in next year. You’re going to be paying $18 Dollars for a Bland Chicken Sandwich then 😱

Kids only bring home Popeyes 24 or 36 piece nuggets. It's all they every want and seems like a good deal compared to KFC.

Not bad if it's fresh cooked. If it's been sitting under a hot lamp all day then not as good.

Our Popeyes is pretty good but our KFC sucks. In general I like KFC better, just not ours.

Its fast food, my expectations arent real high to begin with. That being said, of all the fried chicken places I prefer Popeyes or Krispy Krunchy over anything else, at least both of these places have some flavor! Popeyes spicy tenders and cajun fries are a pretty good when Im on the road. 100% better than McD's!!!! As said above, the fresher the better

They opened a Dave’s hot chicken a few miles from my house. It’s Fuckin bomb. Don’t know if it’s a chain but kinda looks like it could be. By far best chicken at a fast casual place I’ve ever had. It actually is better than other specific bbq places I’ve been to.

Never had Popeyes. And yeah, prices go up when you raise pay. “Here’s more money worker, we’ll charge the customer more to pay you, as will every other business, so basically, your raise is worthless because you can’t afford anything, again!”

All these fast food places are just surviving by a thread , enjoy them now because there’s a good chance they will be gone next year . I honestly think the main reason for their troubles is the apathetic / don’t give a crap attitude of their employees .

They will be automated within 3yrs and they will have 1 employee per shift, McD's is spending a lot of money to automate their restaurants.

My 13-year old daughter and I have done some serious fried chicken benchmarking on our recent visits to SoCal and the Bay Area. The verdict is

1. Von's Korean Fried Chicken
2. Roscoe's
3. Raising Kane's
4. Krispy Krunchy Chicken
5. KFC
6. Dave's Hot Chicken
7. Jollibee's
8. Popeye's
9. Chik Fila

Disclaimers:
1) My daughter may not necessarily agree with the ranking above
2) I probably missed a couple of chains. We have had a lot of fried chicken.

Yes. Like them or not, I've found the two most consistent places with workers with good attitudes are In and Out and Chick Filet...
I will seek them out specifically because of this.

Fast food killed our country's health. I put that shit in me about twice a year when lazy and will be up late sucking water down due to salt content and whatever else they put in that shit etc....

Not one mention of Church's Fried Chicken. Y'all aint from the hood and it shows! 😂
Yup, Louisiana Fried Chicken too, there's still a few of those around. Fried Okra...yum, yum.

Best value is $5 Fridays at Albertsons/Vons.

Dave's Hot Chicken - went there a week ago for the second time. It's good, but strips and chicken sandwiches only, just like Caines and Chick Fil A.

Howlin Ray's in Chinatown serves a pretty decent chicken sandwich.
The best sandwich was Horsethief BBQ at Grand Central Market, but they abruptly closed. Lucky Bird, also at Grand Central, has a good sandwich, and chicken/waffles.

Gimmie chicken any day of the week before a sandwich!

Years ago when I lived in Studio City I had a neighbor who was very into surfing and smoking weed.

One day he says "come on, I'm going to show you where the brothers hang out"

So down Ventura blvd we go, pull into a strip mall and into Popeyes.

Yep, more brothers in Popeyes than the rest of Studio City.

There used to be a Church's in Pacoima, it closed, not enough demand for that greasy bird.

If you guys ever get to the East Coast or in Texas as they have a few there too. Check out Zaxbys. It’s a fast food chicken restaurant. I really liked their chicken sandwiches. The Chicken Philly was awesome!
