Call Vince at Quality Interiors 951 204 4535
scrape and texture runs about $1.00 per sq. ft. there in and out in a day with no mess.

This is what I do, I don't believe I will have time though. If you need a good painter call Steve Mack, 714-846-2919

Ps. avoid knock down at all costs.

Thanks for the plug Digger! I don't have much time at the moment, the hangars just started on a 17k ft. house and will be ready to tape soon.

And drywall is not near as nice of a finish. I would like to try plastering, someday. :thumbsup

The house I'm going to work on should be done in plaster, even at 3.50 per ft. for drywall there still might not be any money in it.

Anytime you want to learn I can teach you. I think the biggest problem you will have is getting use to the tools. I can tape but I hate the pan and tape. LOL
Do you do any specialty finishes?

I didn't know they still had those in Socal.

There are only a few left up here and in the bay area.

Does anyone else feel like Wheeler about the knock down? Just curious what is wrong with it, as we are pretty happy with ours done that way.

When I did the same thing to my house I saved my self some money and scrapped it myself then had someone come in and texture it properly.

I used my garden hose and a nozzle set on medium spray. Wet the popcorn gently then let it sit for a min or two then took a scrapper and that shizz peeled like butter. Just an idea for u if ur not in a hurry and wanna save money.

depends on the knockdown alot of companies throw on a heavy knockdown to cover up all the imperfections they dont take the time to fix. a light orange peel or light knockdown doesnt cover much if any imperfections so the tape and mudding need to be done right.

BTW I do this work also would love to give you a bid on the job. R & N builders (714)529-4115 ask for Rick.

Yup a hudson is the way to go. Did that to my current house. Dropped the popcorn, then shot texture. Too cheap and broke at the time to pay someone to do it.

I found the key is to have just enough water. Too wet and you damage the sheetrock and tape, not wet enough and it won't scrape easily. After you have done a little you realize there is a change in the look of it when it is perfect.

Think about this.....$1.00 per sq foot.

It's not exactly easy work. We do it all the time on the restoration side. I can believe how cheap it is.

X10....... I scrapped MANY MANY lids with dad growing up. (paid for many 3-wheelers and quads) We did this before we started using the Hudson sprayer. 10 million times easier. Saw above the water hose comment...:mad2: We have also R&R'd many Sf of drywall from Do it yourself'rs that have over sprayed and distroyed their homes.

BAYSIDE DRYWALL in Carlsbad(brothers company)...if anyone needs this done in South OC, and all of San Diego.
