There will be a umbrella on the shelf and I'll probably do a table I can take in and out

Just options to think about... I decided against it. I've heard of issues with those holes but then again I'm sure it's who's installing. But mainly sticking a rusty ole cheap pot metal beach umbrella in your 40,000 dollar pool.

I'm going with those nice umbrellas with a big weighted base but curved pole that hangs and umbrella over the side. Then I can move it wherever instead of being stuck right in the middle of the step.

I'm kinda stuck now though. If there are no issues with a hole it probably is nice to have if it doesn't cost any extra money.

No chilling at a table on the reef step sounds like a good time. Going to have to hit up the pool furniture store.

:thumbsup After owning a pool for over 10 years, that's one thing I'd totally have now. Some seats in the shallow end, and a walk in shelf with a table and place for umbrella. I may eventually see about adding that. Most of the time we kick it and chill in the shallow end. I even considered drilling some holes and adding inserts around the border of the shallow end for umbrellas. Kinda coold to split up the shade and sun mid summer. We get some good shade now that my palms are bigger now too.

You can drill holes in the deck. I had one done in my driveway for a tetherball pole. Of course they do monster holes through the curb for drains. Just saying. That doesn't require a pool remodel.

This is the kind of umbrella we are thinking.

I think don't hold me to it but it has a 10 year warranty and he said it could be sanded

I only mentioned because samples tend to be super defined and some sand em down and potentially give unrealistic expectations. Get that sample wet and that glass will come alive!
3-5 year warranty on plaster, 7-10 year on pebble, is the norm.
Design looks good, and I like the bench added to baja if not at -9 depth for baja. Good place to hang out with out chairs taking up the shelf area. Umbrella sleeves likely included, I would do 2, 1 closer to bench area so you could do removable table if you wanted, the other further away so you don't hit your face on umbrella as you enter pool

VMM, lol about you would be in Velano if you had that money. This was a divorced, single Chinese lady, she kept going back n forth about pebble versus all glass. Finally the day before we did it she says, I don't know, what would you do. My response was it doesn't matter what I would do, this is your house. I know your taste, did you buy a Bentley because it was practical or because you wanted the best, she says f you with a smile, and signed the change order :D

I know. Probably was a mistake not doing it but I'm past it now. Oh well. I actually like the moveable umbrella because it seems that the sunlight tends to move throughout the day. A permanent mount in the center of the step doesn't do much to resolve that. Yeah you can have and umbrella with a tilt. But a cantilever umbrella I can move wherever. I can even drag and hang over the spa or hang over the love seat at the other end.

That said I goofed and should have put one in. I coulda had both.

That why I'm looking at maybe swapping light tomorrow morning and checking out plaster options.

Stone done. Trim tile done. Plumbing setup and working. I'll setup my screen logic after pool is running or maybe before. Hmmmmm.

Getting a new gate for the heck of it and putting vinyl around equipment. I'll find something to top it and protect it too after the fence gets changed to vinyl. Just gotta convince pain neighbor. One to the south is great.

Plumber is coming back after fill to help startup and he will label my valves. He didn't have stickers on him but he showed me everything.

So I asked him and he said it comes out the way the sample is. And at the end of its life span it can be polished instead of scratched out and replaced.

I like the tile around the tub

Thanks. It's real stone. It's some heavy stuff.

Thinking a French Grey plaster might compliment the colors and it'll make a deep blue water color. Benefit will be warmer water and hide any stains better.

Added a new gate at the back corner of the house so it can be locked but the toys and stuff can still be in the side and kids can get to them. Especially neighborhood kids playing with mine. And if garage is open but front gate locked they wouldn't go through man door and into back. Inspector loved when I told him the plan.

Also added fence around equipment for aesthetics and to protect it. Going to add something to the top to keep sun and weather off and prolong. Probably something breathable but the side next to the corner patio cover is open so plenty of room to breath.

There will eventually be vinyl since to replace the wood but I'm having play neighbor games for that. The other sides wood fence I have cool neighbor but he wants block. We are going to do block up to the houses and then vinyl down between the houses. He's going to make up the difference for the block part since that's what he wants.

Back wall I need to hide the ghetto behind. Going to either add a couple feet of vinyl or put another block and a nice cap that matches the coping.

Thought vinyl might be cheaper but after talking to my guy it may not be. So the only determination at that point is the height and which hides the ugly yards better.

Inspection tomorrow and then either plaster tomorrow on Wednesday and we are good to go.

Gonna put my build on hold for awhile. Gotta get some trees removed in the backyard and some concrete done.

Why not do concrete as part of the build process?

At any rate it's one thing to remove stuff first but putting anything in make sure it won't interfere with the build. Like will that concrete need to come up to run utilities. Or will it be driven on with a tractor so wait until afterwards etc. just something to think about.

You find yourself down here then come on over for a swim. Plaster should be in tomorrow.

Woke up this morning to this. Actually was filled just after midnight last night. All the flack is making for a bad pic for water color though. I just swept but we aren't starting up til this afternoon. So when i get better color I'll post a better pic. But certainly in a week when it's fully cured. That'll give us sometime to uncover furniture and stuff anyway. Still won't be perfect. Have to wait on coordinating with neighbors on walls and fences. Not only will that make it nicer but then my wife can finish her planting. She doesn't want to do that and then have them trampled when walls and fences are done.

Oh yeah. Ended up with umbrella hole. Wasn't past the point of no return. Plaster guys installed one no charge. They are used to Shotcrete guys not leaving a hole. Figured I'd do it so we have the option if we want.

I used this stuff called cover free or cover something. It's a liquid. I don't have any hard evidence but it seemed to help

I'll look at the suggestions. I'm hoping with being a play pool and grey plaster it'll be nice and warm sooner than later.

Bubble cover will work nicely in this geometric pool though.

The bubble covers kick ass. But you need to keep a close eye on algae growth with them. I use one on mine in the summer. It'll raise the pool temp at least 10 degrees in about a week. During the summer my pool stays around 90 degrees with it on. I love it.

They are pretty cheap man.....you can probably get one for less than $200. Your city my have a rebate for it as well. I doubt that grey bottom will help it heat up by April. I've always wanted one, but the nice thing about a bubble cover is it will extend your season. I wouldn't use it out here in Corona though during Summer. My pool gets mid to upper 80s easy without.....and I have about an 8 ft deep end.

I paid $100 for my bubble cover. It's lasted 3 years. Replacing it this year with a new one. I think the reel I have for it was around $100 as well.

For you that shit is definitely ideal since it's cooler out there. And the reel is perfect for a rectangular level pool. Wouldn't work for me.

My buddy lives in Eastvale and his pool is grayish and it helps keep it warmer. His pool is big too. Almost 3/4 acre lot monster house. Anyhow in going to look into this. It is a great idea.

I'm inland around your area. Middle of pool is 5 feet so I'm hoping this all helps with warmth. I think it might be nice to help extend the season and to keep crap out during the off season. Will have to watch for algae and crap though as mentioned.

Most of the small local pool stores will have the covers and rebate info. Stay away from Leslie's imo.

Nice. It's gearing up to be warm next week and the water didn't feel bad when I put my hand in it. 90 degree afternoons next week may actually feel good with the sun directly overhead.

It'll be perfect timing. Plaster will be set after a week of brushing and filtering out the flack and getting chem straight.

Oh yeah. I've got a good local spot where I used to get my spa stuff from.

Going to see about Edison rebate for variable speed pump too.

With your pool being shallow....it should heat up better anyways. Algae should be controlable but starts to wanna show up more as your temp creeps closer to 90. It is airborne too though. So even a cover may help keep blooms out.

There's a pool supply store by me that I buy my pool stuff from that I got it at. I've seen Leslie's ads that have them pretty cheap too. I think mine is either the 5mil or 7mil thickness. Can't remember for sure.

Text sent.

Started up today and everything is good. Can't wait to enjoy it.

Mastic is done. We are going to be put back this weekend pressure washing side of house and patio covers, uncovering patio furniture and gardening. Goo g to look real nice. Can't wait to do fences and my wife can finish planting.

Eventually will make patio covers solid and then I can hand some ceiling fans and lighting or whatever. Going to have an island done as well but I'm done with any grills but a Weber so a new Genesis will be standalone. Island will likely have sink though and maybe a spot to put in a mini fridge. Going to be our own little resort back there.

View from my bedroom is awesome. I'll have to snap a pic when the lighting is better.
