Just finishing up a pool in Fallbrook and wondering what you guys use for door alarms and if anyone uses a water line alarm/floating buoy deal. We have a 1 year old baby girl and an elderly dog. I wish CA would be like AZ and just raise the door knobs but no go here.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

We opted for a pool fence. Felt it was better than alarm. The fence can be taken down pretty easily for parties and when my son gets a little older, we won’t need it.
My wife wants a fence as well. I told her we might as well get a full time life guard next!

Our pool guy installed some alarms on sticky tape for the inspection and removed them when it passed.

My wife wanted alarms also, so I put one on our back door. It was super annoying and she quickly realized that that’s just the over protective mom side talking and ripped it off.

Removable pool fence here, also looked into pool net covers. Been saying for a long time that pools and guns are the 2 things that if you have them in your house, then your kids need to be taught how to use them properly. Swimming lessons for the kids ASAP (and proper gun handling if you have one...!).

Pool fence is proven best defense.

Not sure what to do about the elderly dog absent a pool fence.

With respect to your toddler, we lived in Daytona Beach Florida in the early 60’s as little kids as my dad was in the military. Both my brother and I were taught to swim as soon as we could crawl but could not walk. Before we even remember anything.

It was just what they did in a place where you couldn’t fence all the water ways and other water sources. Learn to float on your back. The city, the community centers and the military all had learn to float/swim programs.

Pool fence with a 1-year-old. Those door alarms are annoying as F.

Higher door handles, and I had a pool fence done. There is a shout out in the business review thread with pics. I may still add an alarm.

Brother in law did the net deal. No room.for a fence. Works pretty slick. Easy on and off I thought.
My 120lb Sow wasn't to happy about it.

This is what I would do if I had littles around. Also adding an alarm wouldn’t hurt, but a barrier fence would be #1.

I have the removable fence. It was installed when that type of fence was brand new. We have been very happy with it. Our Neighbor had a small child almost drown during a Father's Day BBQ (while they were eating dinner). The kid had to be recesataed. Luckily someone realized one of the kids wasn't there, and looked in the pool.

After that, it was great piece of mind to be able to close the fence when we had friends with kids over. When we come out to eat, or whatever, close the fence.

We would take the fence down completely when we had an adult party. If we had a large number of kids, I would take a big section out. It worked great.

Pool fence.

My wife is an ER nurse. The amount of drownings that happen are so sad. Preventable. One not long ago the kid crawled out through the dog door. Last place the family looked was the pool.

We did the pool net on ours after we watched our friends 2/3yr old open the pool gate at their house! Aslo kids can climb over using a outdoor toy or table same 2/3yr old did that as well.
I also didn’t really want to see the fence in the winter when the pool gets less use so the net made more sense.

Alarms on the doors are great until you go outside in the morning to drink coffee by the pool and forget it’s on!!!

The net worked great and was easy to take off and on.
