Adam or others,
Does any one know how to do the beach speakers that are pole mounted? I saw them a year ago and the guy told me Al & Eds did them but somebody else did them better. Maybe Extreme Audio had the poles? Are they waketower speakers mounted to a special pole that goes inside a mount like the one that your rear pole light goes into?
Thanks!! C6

I designed those when I was at al&eds. we built tons of them for people. to date I dont know of anyone that has a better/easier to use design. there is no special pole it IS a standard 360 light pole and receptacle.

If hot boats image center comes back online I could post some pics of it.

If you saw my 28' Magic deck boat around lake havasu, it was just a table stand and pole from an RV. They can be bought at any camper/rv store. We mounted the stands on the step area in the front of the boat and did quick release connectors to the speakers. You just pulled them out from under the seats, put them in place and plugged them in. You could point them any direction you wanted. Just don't drive with them in place as there is no way to secure them. They are for stationary or floating use only!!!KB

Adam,
Are the brackets for the speakers to clamp on to the pole? The pole seems a little top heavy. It seems like it need to be a little beefier to handle the weight of the speaker.

How many speakers are you putting up there? For a 6x9 or two it shouldn't be any problem with a Perko style pole / receptacle?

I had always built them with a 6x9 facing forwrd and one facing backwards mounted to a typical perko style light pole, IMO its still the cleanes looking option when not in use and I probably built 40-50 sets and have never had one comeback with any problems. With the RV table mount you are going to have a big bulky bottom mount when not in use and Im not exactly sure how you would go about rnning the wires but it cant look to good. with th perko light, when not in use you just unplug and close the cover (just like you do your rear light when not in use).

If there is a better way to do them I would defintely be interested in seeing it.:hmm

and keep them sellable to the general boating population...remember for the most part if they arent financing it in the original purchase people really do look into what stuff costs. ;)

If you can come up with a better way, that is still cost effective, I can sell them for you.

This is the way I did it when I had the Eliminator. You would want to keep the poles kinda short so drunks dont hang all over them but they were pretty stable actually.

I want to do a couple horn loaded compression drivers in the next boat. I would keep them up high like the wakeboard boats do. Getting sound OUTSIDE the boat is hard to do on the big boats.:D

I would do 2 JBL EON 1500G2 self powered pa speakers if I did a pontoon. HLCD and 15" sub built in, they are stupid loud.:beer

we have been doing these for years and they are a great option for when the boat is parked.
