Who here carries a pocket knife?

I've always had one usually just a small pen knife style but have started carrying a
2-3/4" blade length lock back. Just a cheepo with a plastic handle and stainless blade.
Suggestions on make and model?

I've always been a fan of the Kershaws. I bought one for me and the guys in my wedding. I don't carry it all the time but I use it quite a bit.

Really you should just go where they have a decent selection and pick something you like. There are way too many different knives.

With that said, I'm a fan of Buck Knives.

Look through the Buck site. It tells you if its Made in USA or imported. The price gives it away most times.

My Kershaw is made in Japan. The pivot broke...:grumble:

Have one in my pocket everyday...I like the serrated combo blade, I have spent years on horseback, roping cattle and doing various chores...when you get in a bind with wild cattle at one end of your rope and a 1200lb horse at the other, a good sharp knife will save your ass.....I have never had a problem with a Spiderco........JMO :D

Cold Steel Gunsite edition 4 3/4" blade-24/7,

Work knives: Husky razor knives: have to cut into lots of "supicious packages"(suitcases/back packs-etc.) on calls, much cheaper than using a good blade

I carry a multi-tool...has a knife + much more shit.

The knives (straight & serrated) get the most use, but the other shit comes in handy as well.

Got tired of replacing expenive Gerbers & SOGs when I lose them...so I carry a Leatherman now.

True. They left commie Californiaand moved to Idaho. The Bucks I sell are all inports. They may make some high end knives in house?

Most of their knives seem to be made here.

You can click on each knife on their website and it tells you.

Out of the first 20 "everyday" knives, the Made in USA knives are $26-$54...the imports are $19-$28...14 out of those 20 are made here.:hmm

I have a 2" pocket knife that I carry everywhere with me except on a plane. I'll still take it with in my checked baggage. I couldn't imagine not having it with me. I bought it for my father 20+ years ago for his birthday to replace one he had that finally fell apart. He carried it with him everywhere. After he passed away 8 years ago, I asked my mom if I could have it. I've carried it with me ever since.

This is what I carry in my pocket on a daily basis granted, I have about a 12" razor sharp sushi knife in my hand just about every minute of the working day.

Ever since I was a firefighter and the Spyderco's first came out I have been carrying one every day. The serrated blade goes right through nylon seat belt webbing, where a sharp straight blade has problems.

Once I got to the teams, they issued us Spyderco's, and I carried one in the field since we were so hard on them, figured I would carry an issued knife so when tips and everything else got broken off cutting open ammo crates etc... I wouldn't fall on my sword over it.

My daily carry is one of the first issue Benchmade "Emerson". I have #703 of 1000 on the original and only issue, prior to Emerson going off on his own. They call it the CQC7, or the BM970 since it has a semi-serrated blade and a Tanto tip. I had two buddies with "real" Emerson CQC6 custom knives, and there was a five year wait for them, and they were over $600 at the time. Emerson was swamped, with huge demand, so he teamed up with Benchmade, a phenomenal knife company and built the CQC7 for one year. Great knife, and I have had it for 15 years and never sharpened it. Strong statement considering how much I use it.

Incidentally, he started Emerson Tactical Folders the next year, and sold out one years worth of production in four hours at the Shot Show in 1996.

Need to get a new clip bolt for it. Lost the little screw going through the wash or something.

Anyway, I highly recommend anything by Benchmade or Emerson.

I love my little kershaw, opens with a flick. I also carry a leatherman skelatool wich has a real cool caribiner clip so you dont have to stick it in you pocket or have a sheath.

OK

Specifics:

Quick one hand open, did I say quick?
Easy to close one handed if possible.
I like the half serrated edge on the cheepo I've been using and it has a drop point. Should I go with a different point? Tanto?
Why?

Sounds like any major manufacturer is fine, I've had good use out of Buck and Gerber.

I carried a folding buck on duty for 25 years.
I think I have three of them.
When I retired I dug out the Old Timer my Dad gave me way back, then one day realized I should probably put it away for one of the boys.
Some good suggestions here guys. I need a new carry knife so I'll snoop around.
Sorta surprised nobody else has said Old Timer...

So you fucked it up eh? :swear

yep....:bash::grumble:

I figure I can just round the edge and re sharpen it. Only like 1/16 of a inch broke off. I don't even remember what I was using it for now:rolleyes:

Spyderco Rescue...straight blade.

I had a spyderco Delica (?) with a serrated blade and never used the serrated part except to sharpen pencils, and broke the tip a few times...so the Rescue is a heavier blade and there's no sharp tip to break and it's lasted me at least 16 years.

I carry it ALL the time. People ask why I feel the need to carry a knife...but I'm a pretty popular guy at christmas when the gifts are being opened...:rotflmao:
