We own Palantir, but not as much as we would like.

We've been sitting on some cash the last two weeks mistakenly waiting for this SARs thing to hit so we can buy the dip. Totally kicking myself almost every day the last two weeks. At least we are still making money. :)

In hindsight it does not really matter as we planned to just put it in as savings and let it ride the next 10 years. However now I am really interested in how this potential loss might play out. I have to assume the GAAP nerds reserved for it to some extent. Now I am hopeful there is a dip.

I tend to agree, I thing DOGE is gonna use this like a broadsword.

@C-Ya thanks for the influence to try and learn this trading stuff.
I woke up and was going to buy this morning… shit, should have set my order last night!🫣
Edit. Well that didn’t last long. All sorts of stuff tripping. Gorilla technology is on a tear. May have to wait longer before I buy, it might go up another 10%🥴
Edit crnt on a path.

It’s only because of this thread that I have the day to day knowledge of PLTR. If it weren’t for this thread, I would probably only check the current status monthly, since I am in it for the long haul. It takes the stress out.

For us…… We are wondering where PLTR will be 10 years from now.

We are long term investors and rarely buy or sell. I have actually learned a few things following this thread.

My wife and I are approaching 12 years of ownership with our NVDA holdings. We have never sold a single share in that time. We have a similar attitude with PLTR. We Read predictions, and make decisions based on those predictions from analysts we trust. Right now…….. Based on predictions, we are holding……. for the long term hopefully. But based on the above, that is not set in stone.

I truly wish everyone the best. Investing is not easy. It comes with a lot of stress and indecision. That’s just the way it is.

I wish there was a pill for indecision……. because I’d like a prescription. lol

Sold a total of 60.

If it keeps going up great. If it crashes great. I will buy back in for double or triple the shares I sold.

You are 100% right. I already hit my goal for this account is the only reason I’m selling some.

If I hit the timing right and can sell high and buy back in low great.
If not I’m letting the rest ride.

That’s why I sold. I think I have more profit to loose than gain.
It literally dropped like a rock before I had a chance to come back and look, thats why I suck at this game ! lol

I think I’m going to take some profits.
Where is the BofA analyst's report available this guy is referencing. It exists, and the SARs is in the Company's Q3 financials report. I can't find the analyst report available through any trading platform I'm on or via Yahoo Finance or Nasdaq website. You'd think it'd be more readily available? Maybe I'm an idiot. Lol. In any case, I don't think the SARs impact is going to that big of a deal. Nothing any longer term investors would need to worry about. The analyst raised her price target regardless of that info. Now a trader may need to take it into account depending of a few things.

I bought PLTR in early 2021 based on @Xring01 2020 thread. Sold in mid 2023 at $17ish (bought at $25) as the 401k it was in was being terminated. Didn't buy again. Oops.

I would not consider it a blood bath. A few bucks isn’t a big deal when it has doubled in the last 2 months.
We have been expecting a much bigger pull back To be honest.

PLTR— up up up… a small correction and gets bought right back up…

I think… a few huge funds took some serious profits the other day resulting in the down 5-6%day (As others mentioned, doing for tax purposes, need profits to balance the loss’s).

In addition, i think new funds are buying that dip today, to get the position they want. Which is still a very bullish sign, when you truly look at yesterdays sell off. I was not expecting this much of a recovery today. I was actually expecting more of a red day… Maybe we get their by closing…

regardless, my strategy has not changed. Still holding 85% of my original investment. Hoping to recoup another 10-15% in profits early next year if the price holds.

I need to free up some $$$ in one account, to be ready for a deal in the new battery technology world. Been doing some research, no clue which stock I will buy into, but I feel that market be huge… so I want to get in on the ground floor. Meaning I needs $$$ ready to spend, when the opportunity arrises.

Lets pose a question to the group. Whats a market thats gonna go up up up in the next few years. AI is spoken for with NVDA/PLTR others… Chip market is going to be crazy, but I doubt you getting anything their at the ground floor. Or another question? What market will have the best opporturnitys under Trump? Defense? Oil/Gas? Or ?????? Share your thoughts/opinions. I know some of you really like Crypto… which I something I have shied away from.

For those of you who look at stock charts and volumes…

Take a look at the volume spikes of the recent sell offs (over the last few days) and the recoveries. Then compare that to the “avg” volume per day.

Holy shit… massive amount of shares are swapping hands.. When the price gets close to $71, buyers come roaring in…

In my interpretation, some serious profit taking, and some serious investors are coming into new positions on PLTR.

The question becomes… do the sellers have more to sell, than the buyers have to spend and keep that avg $71ish…

Seriously look at those volume spikes… 3M avg and spikes of 71million shares… gobbled right the fuck up.

Again, still bullish, still sticking to my outlined strategy.

My concern is there are so many people who are up 600% profit taking can easily take over with the slightest miss.

But like you said buyers are swarming in low 70’s.

I have roughly 10k I need to invest. So I’m looking for the next thing are a pull back.
VUG and Apple are my go to for parking cash. But they are on a tear right now so I don’t want to buy at the top.

For Investors:
On Dec 13th. The NASDAQ reshuffles the “NASDAQ 100”, there is a huge likelihood that PLTR gets added to it.
Which opens it up to lots of funds that invest in the Nasdaq 100…

If this happens, PLTR will have another bounce prior to xmas - new year.

I am more bullish on PLTR as of today, so if the above comes true… on average when company’s get added to NASDAQ 100, the following year they avg 17%…

I can easily see a PE Ratio of 400 in the near future. If it breaks 400 and holds it… then we will have a huge data point on its future.

Again, my PLTR strategy has not changed. If PLTR does what I think it will do in the next few weeks. I may only sell another 5%, to recoup the grand total of 100% of my original investment.

Stating all of the above… PLTR is flying in the clouds like AMZN, NFLX, TSLA did on the initial run Ups. But it has alot of things going for it, DISCLAIMER. Its over valued alot, and one mistake, it will get hammered. Anyone jumping into PLTR now, better have their stop/loss order placed.

For day traders…. I think there is 10-15% bounce before New Years. You guys know how to deal with that kind of risk…

I think we would like to pick up some more this week, but I'm not looking for a swing trade, more of a savings account. Buying a few others this week as well. Sad we missed $68. I need to pay better attention.

@RiverDave maybe we need a forum for the stock nerds. Doing my damn best to learn this and RDP seems like a pretty good resource with inmates sharing knowledge.

I appreciate the information.

I was thinking that it’s already been priced in.
Thats a great question that I truly do not know the answer to.

In my opinion… I dont think it can be fully priced in. Why, because the huge volume of shares that need to purchased in a NQQQ fund, takes a few QTR’s to acquire. If all fund managers literally bought up the volume they need on the same day, then the price would go up 10X…

Again thats my opinion. I think some fund managers do have some… but I truly doubt that any QQQ fund managers has a full position in PLTR, because there are typical rules on what they purchase, which dictates the whens…

I may be 100% wrong about this… But I do expect $$$ to be flowing into PLTR as people fund their 401Ks, on a monthly basis moving forward.

The key thing is the rules the funds managers has while investing other peoples money. THey have to be very careful, or risk SEC investigations.

Yeah I know as I was really hesitant to click the buy button. But I had multiple articles and you tube videos of people saying the nasdaq deal was almost a lock.

With spy and qqq buying it on a regular basis I think that will help us long term.

I expect bumps in the road.

Yes, I am quoting my own posts… Why…
Well, when the above was written, I was taking a quick mental break from my real job. However because my mind is usually on 1000 topics at the same time. I wrote the above in the “Investor” mindset… and didnt give it alot of thought.

From a “day trader” mindset…
I have a different opinion on the above. If @coolchange is looking at PLTR as day trader. Then yes… The PLTR price at closing on Friday, was including the N QQQ news/outcome. Because thats what day traders are doing. Get in/out and using any momentum they can, and do their best to take advantage of it.

Can I predict the future… ohhh hell no.
But I can honestly see reasons why PLTR opens slightly red on monday, (because the day traders and short term traders are done with it) they start selling to collect the profits and move on to other “momentum“ stocks. This is great for PLTR, because when the day traders leave it alone, then the daily volatility will be a whole lot less… Literally 5-8% swings per day lately.

If the above it true… and we see the sell offs, the question to me becomes… Does PLTR still have the major support level at $71-$72… Last week, thats when the volume spiked and buyers came roaring in…

So my guess is the institutional funds who have $$$ to spend on PLTR… are hoping for the above outcome.. Get in as cheap as they can, and pour $$$ into it over the next 3-6 months to get the position they have to have, to be in compliance with the “fund charter”.

Hopefully this makes sense to you guys.

To add another layer of complexity…
Swing Traders/ Dip buyers are looking at the same thing… They will be buying it up at the support levels. If you want to understand that more. Go down the youtube rabbit hole on Swing Trading Chart analysis… Lot of great info, that will truly help you out.

For those of you that are thinking about getting into investing. I created thread a few years ago, which outlines my thought process’s at the time. Please read that first… The key reason is you need to dollar cost average your way into long term investments. If you dont truly understand that, then you will most likely sell when it corrects down 15%, when you shouldn’t… Thats when you $$$ on the sidelines to get another portion of your position. READ THAT THREAD… or PM me. AS A INVESTOR, I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING ALL IN AT ONE TIME/PURCHASE… Buy in at 25% increments or 20% increments.
