The CT came back clear which is good, but the docs are saying they don't know what it is. The said it doesn't look like meningitis, but they want to do a lumbar puncture to make sure. Stacy and I want to wait until some of the other tests come back first and really don't want to do that unless it's last resort.

We will be staying here tonight at a min.. I will update tomorrow.

It sounds like you know where you are going. One hospital comes to mind. Phoenix Children's Hospital has a pediatric neurological program that is affiliated with the Barrow Neurological Institute. They offer both inpatient and outpatient neurological care.

I would just like tell you Dave your child is in good hands . My son Noah has Chiari Malformation and has had 6 brain surgeries at Phoenix Children's . DR Ruth Bristol of the Barrow Neurological Institute has been a life saver for my son . He has had six different VP Shunts place in his head over the last five years ( do fail sometimes and need to be replaced ) I can say enough about the care he has had from the DRs at Barrow's and DR Ruth Bristol .

My son had that shit this year. It's was viral, so it just had to run its course.

We stressed over the puncture deal to.

Nothing easy about being a parent.

They have ruled out hydrocephalus. Now checking for viruses and infections, menangitis, etc. it's mind boggling to them too. Summer is drinking her bottles and laughing and playing.

As luck would have it Stacy's mom is in town (Havasu) visiting so the other kids are with her, and me Stacy and the baby are in PHX.

If she wasn't in town then we would have had to figure out some shit on the fly.. Between paid staff (nannys), friends in Havi and friends in PHX though I think we would have been ok.

I didn't know how many people we knew in PHX area.. I have like ten offers for places to crash if needed. I was just gonna surprise Steiny with a knock on his door.. Lol. Ironically enough the only one that didn't text me today was Steiny so that figures. Lol.

Well they are doing the lumbar puncture / spinal tap deal right now. So far every test has come back normal so everyone is kind of scratching their heads.

We will be staying here tonight and probably most of tomorrow.

Well the tests from the spinal fluid came back negative.. Both the other kids are sick and have spent most the time in bed or laying around. Not much playing and we have been kind of keeping them a little separated so the baby wouldn't get sick.. (Which she did). It's not a head injury though. Even the docs said it wasn't. No mark, no bruising. No nada.. It's a bunch of fluid in the top of her head.


So now the next step is to just wait and see if it gets better..

They swabbed her for viruses and it came back negative. Doc said they might run another swab that tests for a lot more viruses.. They might do an MRI next as well.. Not sure.

Other then that everyone is just kind of scratching their heads including us.

I think the lump is looking better already.. But Stacy and nurse are saying it's still pretty big. If it was like it is now I don't think we would have noticed it. It was huge earlier today.

I have a feeling this thing will just kind of right itself and we will be heading home when they clear her. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Not sure how well it will turn up in pics but if you look at the center front of her head you can see the big lump still.

Not much to update.. Spinal test came back negative.

The only thing that they have been able to find so far was in that swab they took to test for viruses, they ran a bigger test that covers a lot more viruses and it came back as her having "corona virus." Which from my limited googling is basically a cold. They still don't know what caused the fluid / swelling. I think it has gone down some over the last day.. It is still definitely noticeable for us though.

Of course you guys are on my entire family's mind. I truly hope it is just a virus caused by a bad cold or something simple that goes away. If there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask Dave. I couldn't imagine following a ambulance with Christina in it and one of my daughters. Thoughts and prayers to you and the family.

I'm sure they probably all have the same virus. They just don't seem to think the bulging is related. Yet they do not have an answer. They were talking Neuro consult earlier. I gave them her head circumferences from birth up to now to review. They should be making rounds again soon and I'll have an update on their decision.
