Happy jacks fish farm! Man , as a kid my dad would take me there all the time. Other than going to the river , happy jacks was probably my favorite place . It was one of those pay per fish deals..but it didn't matter. Tons of great memories there! Wish it was still open to take my kids there too..

For me, it’s not that they’re gone, it’s that I can’t enjoy myself as much, because of traffic, costs, and over crowded lines when you get there.

I think they call this getting old. 😝

Most of my childhood fishing holes have been fished out.

Where was Hell Ca?
Hell CA was just north of what is now I-10 and WNW of Blythe. That road is now gone, although I’ve heard segments of it remain. It was the Dad’s, middle of the night, beer stop between Indio and Parker. Believe the town’s population was 3, plus a few ducks, cats and dogs. The lady who once worked at Magoo’s remembered it well. BoatCop may have further info.

Tiki Terrace - Nautical Inn - I remember late 80's watching a 21 Skater w/bridgeport wax v-drives, jet's and everything as he pinned it through the afternoon chop.... this was when the bouys were close and you could watch hot laps from the Terrace deck.....the day my love for small outboard tunnels started!

Pearsonville cafe.
Now a Shell station.
Open 24 hrs. But at 3 or 4 am, the owners wife would come downstairs, and cook your breakfast for ya. Eggs and bacon, hash browns, coffee (I had milk, lol). And would leave the check on the counter, and go back to bed.
Trucking had to be done, Haiwee reservoir at 6 am.

Indian Dunes! Man, that brings back some memories. I loved riding the back trails and coming across all the movie stuff. Gorman had a lot of cool, weird shit back in the trails too.

Pismo Beach when it was wide open

The Penguin Coffee Shop off the 10 and Lincoln in Santa Monica and the cool rock water fountain that was outside. (it was turned into a fuckin' dental office in the 90's but finally turned back into a Diner and is now Mel's Diner)

Georges Market in Malibu on PCH where the Topanga Ranch Motel is. The market was out front. We use to walk there as kids and get candy.

You can still fish at Jess Ranch. Very similar to the old Happy Jacks. http://www.jessranchlakesnews.com/

Cruising Hermosa Beach/Redondo on a Friday or Saturday night……. It would be packed!

I was there every weekend, and the last night of the Esplanade when the RB cops came thru and ended it forever. I walk my dog there in the evenings and think it almost daily how good those times were.

What about the Burger King on Torrance Blvd. after the Esplanade?

The Shoe Tree (Rice Rd)

Paradise Cafe (Parker)

Manor Market (Parker)

Hills Cafe (S. Austin)

Sandeez Hamburger Hut (Lakeway)
....just closed its doors last Saturday. The business had been around for over 60 years and hosted a classic car show every Friday. It will be missed.

BLUE BAR II
😂 First bar I ever went in to!

I was little, can't remember the year. On the way home from Laughlin, saw the London Bridge, and ended up having lunch there. Some how my non-drinking father knew the owner at the time! Couldn't even tell you where it was, but I can tell you we were in a 72 Chevy with a cabover and no AC for us kids!

My grandparents took us there also. They lived in Pasadena. Where exactly was it? I remember the bamboo poles and the bait, the helpers chumming the water, and my grandparents telling me when I had to stop fishing, lol. They cooked the trout when we got home. Fun times!

It was in azusa just before you head up into the canyon. Yep, you are right. Bamboo poles with a lil cup of dough bait. I remember they had a old 60's Pepsi machine too. I remember having a absolutel blast there as a kid!
