Today the team heads out to Ojos Negros for Class 1 qualifying. This will be the first time our drivers have had to qualify on a short course so a lot will be learned today and we anticipate a good showing.
Yesterday was spent having some friendly competition between the driver/co-driver teams to see who had the most efficient system for doing a tire change in the field. It was fun for everyone and a great way to practice a vital task that could make the difference in a championship.
This team is a tight group that executes very well. They eat together, brief and de-brief each day, and meet each morning to work out together and as such, the cohesiveness of the team is like I've never seen before. This approach will surely yield success for this young team.

Hopefully you can get it changed out and ready. Look at the bright side at least you did not loose first gear on race day. Should be a lot of technical slow sections.

That was a blessing for sure. The crew already has it swapped out and we are ready to head for tech and contingency tomorrow morning :thumbsup

Today was an exciting day of qualifying for the Trophy Truck and Class 1 cars. Robby Gordon laid down a seriously fast lap to take the top qualifying spot in Trophy Truck. I don't think he lifted the whole lap! While our qualifying run didn't go as planned, our driver and co-driver, Nick MIlls and Tony MacNeil were able to salvage 8th after loosing 1st gear on the sighting lap.
A new transmission is now in the car and both the Class 1 and Trophy Truck Spec are ready to rock for contingency tomorrow.

It's race day! The Mills Motorsports team has done their prep and checked and rechecked every vital detail of the race vehicles. The drivers are calm and ready. It's all systems go for the Baja 500...
I will be chasing down the coast to race mile 185 today and hope to capture some images of all the action.
Prayers go out to all the teams out there for a safe race!

Great and humbling day of racing today. We started in good position with both trucks but as is the norm down here, the Baja started making her own plans. Both trucks needed tires at the first pit, the silt held us up, fuel system gremlins gave us fits, etc.
In the end we DNF'd in Class 1, but came in unofficial 2nd in Trophy Truck Spec. Trophy Spec success was our mission and the team executed exceptionally!
We wish we could have had better luck in Class 1, but we only have one race on the truck and sometimes that's the way it goes...

Awesome Pics :thumbsup Buddy here at work is on the Jergensen Race Team... they took 5th place.
