Tigers
The Tiger Temple or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua is a Theravada Buddhist temple in Thailand and has been a sanctuary for many endangered animals including several tigers that walk around freely once a day and can be petted by tourists. The temple received several tiger cubs where the mothers had been killed by poachers. As of 2007, over 21 cubs have been born at the temple and the total number of tigers is about 12 adult tigers and 4 cubs.
The tigers are tamed by being fed with cooked meat to avoid giving them a taste for blood. The staff keep the tigers under control and the abbot will intervene if the tiger gets agitated. They are treated as family members in the temple and visitors are asked to give a donation if they want to take photos with the tigers.

My aunt sent me this e-mail the other day. Look at the tigers they look drugged out. NO tiger will lay with their eyes closed while someone lies their head on their ass....please! They're chained up, very sad!!! I don't approach our tigers from the rear, it's stupid, you face them and greet them!!!

On another note, a woman was arrested here today trying to sell 5 tiger cubs.... I hope we get a few!!

NO silly!! Tippy does not let you pet them. She has the same type of place we do, a place for tigers to live who've been neglected and/or abused. It's off the 114 before Palmdale. Then there is also the Wildlife Waystation, where I started, it's in Tujunga Canyon. She has everything though from bears, wolves to big cats....

you Cali people need to get out there and give them your money!!!

I don't think the thailand monks are drugging the tigers? There's only one with a chain on it. The rest are just sitting there?

RD I love ya man....but............C'mon. You said it yourself they are just sitting there. I'm with 17 tigers a day, I only go in with a handful of them, and none of them just sit there. There are a few that have been with us since being babies, I can sit with them but NOT just anyone and they don't fall asleep (or close their eyes) with me in there, NO WAY!. They all have certain types they don't like. We have one's who hate men, some hate women, some hate men with hats. My point is they are all different, there isn't going to be a group of tigers like that which welcomes just anyone and everyone.

Your tigers were raised in a zoo correct? Kind of a natural habitat with limited space more or less.. They interact with certain people, on some level, but not every 2 seconds..

if they were raised from birth around people why is it hard to believe they'd be relaxed around people?

There was a guy down here in S.D. that had a tiger as a pet for years.. It was very friendly from what I understand? (Never saw it personally but remember seeing it on the news several times)

My bad.... I was just throwing that out there. I wasn't really sure. I just know my Sister-in-law went there and had pics. I don't quite remember what she did there.

None of ours have seen a zoo. They are all from private owners who thought having a pet tiger was a great idea or could make them money.

You are correct though they are friendly (the ones we've had since cubs) I'm able to kiss them on the nose and snuggle them. If I make a kissing sound Midas puts his nose in the air for a kiss along with his paw, I then place my paw on his. I'm there alot though, they know me, when strangers come they hide in their dens. I just don't see them able to just lay there with strangers............. I obviously only know our tigers though so I guess this could be ligit but I just don't think so.
