Hi!

I have approx 50 hours on my new Verado 400R Phantom 25 combo. Top speed is 86 mph at 7,040 rpms with two persons.

The prop I have is a reworked REV4 25 pitch which I bought second hand for my 350 Sci. It was tuned for a Airship RIB 28 footer. Its heavy cupped both close to the hub and on the tip. I have been recommended to try a stock REV4 25 RXP, since its not cupped so much. I presume I will get this prop soon.

I need to run the propshaft at least 0,75 inches above the bottom with the REV4. No positive trim. Lower propshaft height, the speed drops. Higher, the slip increases. So I am looking for a prop which carry the bow better at high propshaft height.

Have anyone tested the Max5 against props such as REV4, Turbo TXP, BLlades 4-Speed OB/FX, Bravo FS, etc?

Thanks!

Cheeers, Toffen

Nice Boat!

You might try the " Outboard Church" down in the Information Station.. There is a lot of outboard performance knowledge in there..

Toffen:

Talk to Randy Corsen at Liberator Boats. He set up a TUFF 28 v-bottom. He would know more than most and steer you in the right direction.

Cheers.

P.S. I believe he is from Sweden.

Have you contacted this company?

http://bblades.com

Almost every set up thread I've read about a single 400R and a (relatively) light hull, ended up getting the best top end with a bblades prop.

How much set back are you running? I think I would be looking for a chopper if your wanting to carry the bow more. JMO

Is that a manual or hydraulic jack plate?

I have a Bob's Machine shop jackplate that I am going to use on a setup that will have a 400R. In regards to the positioning of your jackplate/motor, What is the total height the center of the prop can go above the keel?

I will have 6" of travel on the jackplate. I figured allowing the center of the prop to rise to a max of 1-1/2" above keel. I probably won't need that much, but heard another buddy runs the center of his prop about 1" above the center of the keel.

Any setup changes with the 400R that you would have change or is everything good to go?

I too will need to find a good prop that works. Post any info you can about testing out new props!

By the way, your boat looks bitchen!

I would try a Bravo xs 26.. it's a Bravo series prop that adds bow lift.

Hi!

Thanks for answers all of you :) Much appreciated.

I have a Gorilla II hydraulic jackplate. It travels 5 inches. All way down its 3 inches below. All up, 2 inches above the bottom. I think 1 inches - 1,25 inches above will be the maximum I can get due to the boats bottom design. Several people have told me that the sweet spot for this gearcase is 1,5 inches above. Then you get the maximum out off it.

The boat is a non stepped design which runs very flat. However, the sportmaster LU of 400R suprised me how much bow lift it could create with no positive trim. The standard HD 5,4 inches design needs much more positive trim to create the same lift.

The engine is a more rpm design than the 350 Sci which I owned between 2011-2017. The 350 Sci has more bottom punch. However, after approx 30 hrs, the engine gets more snappy. I got 80-81 mph with the 350 Sci at 6,500 rpms REV4 25 pitch. I think the 400R has a potential to 88 mph with the correct prop. I have been recommended to prop the engine to 7,000-7,050 rpms to get all out of it.

I am collecting props at the moment, so August will be in the sign of prop testing!

Cheeers and thanks, Toffen
