I’m
Not even a big outboard guy but this little 28’ cat by performance boats is pretty bad ass. I could definitely see cruising the river in this thing. Fantastic lines, good speed, cool runner.

According to their website they are only doing outboards, of course they are custom boats and may be able to be talked into it...

This is definitely in my wheelhouse of things I'd like. Some of the bigger true-tunnel cats are a bit much around a dock.

Got some rough numbers from wozencraft for going to a fast twin-ob cat. Kinda wild, but I might suck it up for a bit depending on how things go over the next few months.

Cobra's cats also look cool, but not a true tunnel.

This is a perfect dependable dual purpose lake and ocean boat that’s easy to tow. Not that expensive to maintain either.

Oaf. I don’t know if I’d run that in the ocean 😬😬

Great river lake runner though.

We used to race a 25’ Motion in the ocean and I’d take it anywhere. A 28 Skater is an incredible ocean boat so I wouldn’t be worried about this one, I also used to take my 21 Laveycraft to Catalina and Santa Cruz Island regularly so this seems like a great all around boat for me. A Spectre 30 with 300’s would be nice for my wife and I also even though she wants another 42 Fountain. Thie P280 might be a little wet being so low profile but the windshield should keep the front two seats dry. Remember Nigel Hook racing the shit out of a 25 Warlock?

It's a very different boat:

You literally can't compare a 28 DW [P280] to a 28 Skater, they are VERY different boats. The DW [P280] will not like the rough water, the tunnel is very shallow & wide, makes it very fast in flat to moderate water.

They feel like drastically different boats [the Skater 28 and P280]. The DW [P280] accelerates better & has a bigger hop zone but once that clears out its gone & a Skater isn't catching it on civil water. Best way I can describe is DW [P280] is a 28 STV kinda.

That new PBC 280 is a sweet boat hands down. Personally I've had my eye on that 23 Trick......mostly because the pricing on the trick isn't thru the roof...yet 😂. I've become a spoiled bitch with the full windshield on my SV29, which the trick offers in a smaller river size package. But having just bought the SV40 and already having an STV with a built 2 stroke, and of course the SV29, yea it would be safe to say that my wife would make sure my picture ended up on the back of a milk carton in a convenience store near you if a new Trick was delivered.🤣🤣🤣

Since you said perfect havasu/runner. To me this isnt a perfect boat to be a runner. Clean and good looking lines for sure. But the type of boating your talking about I would rather go with a eliminator speedster. This p-280 is a two seater and looks butt hole tight in the cockpit. Besides going straight the p-280 seems like it would be a shitty boat to be stuck in when doing the havasu style boating.

It’s offered in any seating configuration you want up to 5 people. The cockpit is tighter than the speedster but you have a side deck on the p28 to stand on while docking or getting in. You don’t have to step off the dock into the boat. Cockpit doesn’t look horribly tight.

I don’t get how the boating would be any different between the two.

I do like that the speedster is optioned with an I/O though. But I’d rather have a true tunnel.

Think it’s the perfect size to rip from needles to havasu springs. Not to small, not too big. Eat up chop comfortably. Speedsters a nice boat. Good looking. But For me, if I had a boat I was only going to boat on havasu with this would be a strong contender. Sexy as hell.

What about the 255 Speedster True Tunnel - Seemed to handle good and be a pretty sweet boat. Not sure how many they have built to date.
