Anyone work at or know someone at passport office in San Diego or Los Angeles area? Brother is desperate to get his boys their passport for our sisters wedding in Cancun. We leave next Monday night the 27th. Offices are appointment only due to Covid. He did the expedited route 6 weeks ago and they haven't arrived yet. Flying out of TJ so getting into and out of Mexico isnt really a big issue. Big issue is resort wants passports to check in and no exceptions. Boys are 6 and 8 years old. They are nervous to just fly down and hope for best. Thanks for any help

Recently renewed mine. Had to do the expedited deal.
Dude that did it at the post office said to see if they cashed your check. If they did, then it's on its way.

Sorry to write this but something similar happened to me last year. I paid for the expedited deal since It was a little to close to our vacation to Florida and the Bahamas. It had been 12 weeks and still didn't receive it.
Had to cut my vacation short and come home. Tried to contact them multiple times to see if there was anything we could do etc and all I did was spend hours of my time on hold and get nowhere. Unfortunately.
Ironically when I cut my trip short my passport literally showed up in the mail the next day 😡
They even asked when my vacation was when I applied for it.

Omega travel in Glendale, Ca has expedited options. As in 2 weeks, or a couple of days. But they charge. Had a family member needed one in three days they made it happen somehow.

Belive it or not call your district’s congressman/woman’s office.

I was told to do it and didn't believe it would do a thing but they got right on it and have been doing it regularly for constituents.

worth a call

Thanks for the replys. The are going to our local congressional office tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Im just pissed he and wife waited to get their boys passport. Destination and dates of wedding was announced a year ago. 63 other guests didn't have a issue. Feel horrible for my sister. She will be devasted if her brother isnt at her wedding. I told him to get a sitter for the boys and be there regardless. Haven't gotten a response to that text yet.

Procrastinators usually make others panic. They tend to think our government agencies are "right on it" and timely. 😁
Sure hope it can be worked out in time for them.

In NorCal you can go to the office in San Francisco and they have multiple options for quick turn a round. You have to show them you plane tickets to do it. Depending on when your flight date is, they can do 2 week, 1 week, 3 days, or while you wait. To do the while you wait, your tickets have to be in the next 48 hours. There has to be a main office like that in LA somewhere.

We have a office San Diego. Apparently its appointment only now due to Covid. I told him to show up anyways with the boys and plead their case. They have their airline tickets for proof and they both have their passport. Just need the kids. They are going to try everything they can tomorrow.

Lol pre covid I flew to Mexico with my wife on let’s say a Wednesday. My passport expired Friday and our return flight was Monday.

LAX had no issue and neither did Mexican customs. So now it’s time to go home. We go to check in at the airport. Guy says your passport is expired and I tell him I was aware.

At first he said you can’t fly, to which I asked do I just live in Mexico now?

They took my driver’s license and ticket info, called the US and got me on the plane. When we got to the US customs says hey your passport is expired, I explained what had happened and he just laughed and said happens all the time.

For reference I also boat the river in the winter, drive 90mph on I40 and pay my property taxes on the 15th in the late afternoon.

There is a in person rush service through the passport department but you have to be within 1-2 days from travel if I remember correctly. Makes no sense but we all know the government isn’t known to make sense. I’m also pretty confident that birth certificates will work because we just did that last year for 4&13 year olds on a Cabo trip.
