I spent many a day in Sports Valley playing pool while Dad and his buddy held down the bar stools talking shit with the bar tender. I think it was a fella named Wayne.

We stayed in those condos to the right in the picture most of our trips back then.

The menu was ; house salad, baked potato, Bar-B-Q steak, and you cooked the steak yourself . We would all gather around the circular open brick pit, right inside the dining room and not too far from the pool table . "watch your steak, drink a little" . "Drink a lot, talk a lot, burn your steak" . Fun 'low key' place .....

Now that's my old stopping ground. In 1969 I did a barefoot run through the small channel. Dick and July Johnson had it and I ran with there kids. Danny Churchill ran with a girl with the last name of Wilson, cousin to a gal I went to school with in Rialto, Cherri Wilson. Camped there and moved to the river in 1968 with my parents, great time in high school. Had a few problems attending school when I had offers to ski instead. A few names Last names I remember are Graham, Swicktenburg (sp.), Voss, Haraka. I know I have some video, have to check with parents on pics.

why why does everything in life have to get ruined in time.......crowds big boats roll bar boats jet skiis.....the 60,s and 70,s at the river was the bomb..man i drove by there this summer and stopped at parker on a sat noonish it had white caps you could almost surf the beach break and quite a few 35 ft offshore boats and hundreds of jet skiis...wtf:grumble::grumble::grumble::grumble::grumble:

that's a pic of Paradise Harbor an old bar that was next door to Sports Valley..before they built the condos there..that sure brings back memories, we used to stay at those cabanas right on the water before my Dad bought property in Cienega Springs..awesome pic from around 1969 1970 i'd guess
