Yo!!
We are Back at the BlueWater Resort and Casino for everyone's favorite water ski race, The Parker International. It took some doing to get the job done and the green light to run at this venue again. the NWSRA & IWSRA want to thank the BlueWater Resort and Casino for Hosting our event as the title sponsor. This is our first event back at the Casino since March 2019.

Come on down and check it out.

I have to say this is the best marathons ski racing had/has. Just running hard up and down the river, passing people on the docks or in front of their places, constantly seeing the field going the other way was so much fun.

Better than starting up at La Paz (which they did before the casino was built), staying at the casino was the best way to bring the family.

Our first Parker Marathons was cold and rainy, we thought we were nuts being out there. But it started about a decade of dedicated circles and marathons participation that I thoroughly enjoyed.

We will come down and walk the pits and maybe watch a heat or two.

That is cool and I wish we were still around to come out and watch. I haven't seen these since I was a kid and didn't pay much attention on distance. How many laps are you laying down?

I’m not up to date on how they run them now, but marathons not specifically laid out for distance (Lake Mead 50/75, or Catalina), are more of a timed event where the faster you go the more distance you cover for that time.

For example: the Mini marathon is (or was) 30 minutes + 1 lap, Women’s was 45 minutes + 1 lap, and Men’s was 1 hour + 1 lap.

They either still do this or some variation of this. Flag stand would time the event and put up a white flag when the leader came by so everyone else could see there was one more lap. Then checkers.

The race times are a bit different, but this is pretty much the way the races will be run this weekend. They have added a Grassroots and 45 MPH race that is 10 minutes or 2 laps.

Thank you Sir and that's how I remember it now thinking back.

It varies from race to race. Generally, about 17-20 laps on a 5.5-mile course.

Race doesn’t travel up river that far. Ski race turns at Riverland and heads back to blue water. Drags run up river from pirates.

This must be a shorter course? I remember it being from Blue water to LaPaz park.

So 10 minutes or two laps, just curious, what's the average time for 1 lap?

Actually they turn at River Shore Estates, just south of Riverland.

Does anyone know the race hours? I have a big weekend planed that involves a bunch of water skiing. I checked the Parker Commerce website when I booked all this. No mention.

Oh looky here....what a super busy weekend. Dual boat races and the Fair.

You'll be fine skiing all day north of River Shore Estates.
The race area will probably be shut down from 0830/0900 until 1300/1400.

It will depend on the skier and the class. Some classes are speed limited, 75 MPH, 60 MPH and 45 MPH. So, a skier limited to 45 MPH will complete the lap in just under 7 minutes. The fastest skiers will do a lap in under 4 minutes.

I'm the V.P. & Race Chairman for the NWSRA (Waterski Racers). Our races run from the casino, up river to the top end of River Shore Estates (Cali Side) & Marina Manor (AZ Side). We will start racing about 9:30am (AZ time) with Warm Up's and the first race at 10am.
We should be done with our days races by about 2:30-3pm Saturday and about 1:30-2pm Sunday.
Both days will have Public traffic passage in between our race Heats. Patrol boats are stationed at each end of the course. They will let you know when to pass.
Our Races only run Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th and permitted through the U.S. Coast Guard.

Feel free to DM me if you have any further questions.

Who is the Race Chairman?
He is.

I helped run Region II for a year and I held the same title of V.P. and Race Chairman. I wound up also running the Marathon races as well for our Region, in addition to the circle races.

Race report: it’s great weather out here. Slowly warming into the 70s. Windy this morning but calming down.

Heats C and B ran this morning. Just wrapped up lunch and last heat A is about to kick off. 40 minutes + 1 lap.

If you’re around tomorrow come on down and check it out on the beach!

Bluewater will make you sign a waiver for spectators on the beach but they aren’t charging. So come check out some hardware and see some skiing.
