Almost ready. Still have some scouting to do, but it should be a great year. The unlimited classes are huge!

Here's a couple of my pics from last year...

PT you going to be shooting for Mills or just yourself? Anyone know the qualifying course or do they not post that?

We'll be on the course doing vid and stills.

I hated the split start. It sucks, but a needed safety move as TT and 1000 greatly distance themselves from the lower classes.

Here's a 5 second shot from GoPro #1.

I like to move around, usually start off at 18th and Geronimo where they come off the street onto the dirt, always some idiots that set up on the outside of that first turn. :eek And you can watch the parade of race vehicles on the way to the starting line before the race. This is for the second start early afternoon. First start is out at the Parker Python early AM.

I'll be shooting for Mills half the day and freelancing the rest. Going out this week to scout some more.

Does the rain have any effect on the whooped sections, or are you referring to the course overall?

All the washes have flooded. It will be interesting to see what's what this week.

The ground is wet. The washes have been constantly soaked from rain for the last month.

Not that they need a smooth track, but with the rain the washes will be nice and they will be flying.

If the washes flow real good, they tend to churn up some big rocks. Not only do they come to the surface, they will be just below, and after a few laps they are on top. Also, they tend to be sharp side up. It's been my experience that flats are more common in the washes after a good rain. I wish we were racing, with no, or very little dust it makes for a fast competitive race.

RG's sounds so bad ass.

From the talk going around we may not be hearing that beautiful noise any more, there's rumors floating around that he broke his last Nascar engine I think at the 1000 last year.

Not sure how the start works now, but we use to watch start at 6am, go have breakfast and then settle into a spot up behind lakeside 2 near the cement plant, if i remember right it took about 2+ hours from start to see the first TT truck come through.

Where is a good place to stay for the race (hotel)?

Is there good vantage points to watch from that we can park the motorhome/camp overnight?

Id be surprised if you can find a room. If you have an rv, dry camp up Shea rd. At race mile 7-10 There are tons of rvs up there during the race as the course runs right along the road in Orsborn wash. It is also in bound in that area too. If you have a way to get around besides the rv you can run down by race mile 3 ish and watch too.

If anyone is down we should get an RDP group together and pick a spot to watch. I usually go off of shay rd. Good whoop section and a jump. The big guys start at 1:30 should start to go by around 1:45

Anyone one up for this?

Yes just as you cross the border of Crit into BLM at the cattle guard. Race mile 3 ish

It goes straight for a mile or so then a hard left at the power lines and goes down to Osburn wash in the dunes

LOL here's a pic of my go pro just before it got run over

We usually watch the race from down in the quarry. They open the gates up on top of Beanpot and you can just cruise down in. Always a few RVs and plenty of people. The trucks come flying up the hill and catch some pretty good air before they shoot down towards the wash. I'll be down there in a 80's era landcruiser sipping on some beers. Stop by and say hi

I was down in the keys Sunday night and his offroad race trailer was there. I didn't even know there was talk of him not racing or I would have mentioned it.

My son and I will be going to this for the first time. Can someone give me decent directions on a good viewing spot. Wouldn't mind even being a little off the beaten path so there aren't a million people where we are if that's possible.

I'm not familiar with spectating areas at Parker, but please heed this one bit of advice:

Do not, under any circumstances, spectate, watch, hang out, walk, sit, take a picture, take a leak, or exist on the outside of a turn. Not even for a second.

Anyone have a good BITD scanner freq? I did a search on their website but I may have missed it. It is kind of nice to hear who's in and who's out as the race progresses. Thanks
