You planning on taking the checkered flag again this year! :)

Had to fix your quote.

We will be there defending our title.
The rules change will make it a much more competitive race.
We have a little something special working this year and we will be very hard to beat.

I'm staying down at the Bluewater for the weekend this year, we need to party together. It's been way too long.

The unofficial name of our boat is Stoker Stomper.

Our sponsors are offering a side bet with odds to any Stoker that can finish ahead of us.
I think there are a few Stoker owners here, any of them racing?

Nope. We thought about it, but with the handicaps that they put on the boats we would run (Stokers), we are at a complete disadvantage! :( No reason to blow big $$$ on fuel, entry fees, or risk mechanical failure. :( When we brought up the disadvantage to some peole on the rules committee, a couple of months ago, they admit that they should have had a much bigger differentiation in I/O classes. They said that looking back, they should have put a CID limit on I/O boats like previous years. With that being said, they said that the rules were final and that they would take our input into consideration in future rules.

Believe it or not, in this year's rules the only class that a big block I/O boat can run in is Division 5. Doesn't matter if it is a 496 or if it is a blown 572. Division 5 is specifically titled Unlimited Single Engine Inboard boats.

Everyone with a BBC leaves in Division V. Five minutes after we would take off, the unlimited Division 6 boats would leave. We have always ran pleasure boats in the enduro, just stripped out the interior. To try to compete with the turbine boats, twin engine boats, blown boats, etc. we can't win. No reason to race if you can't have the ability to win. :(

The rules changes hurt many divisions.

I think most of us feel the rule changes effected our classes the most.
Nordic just signed as one of the sponsors and I'm sure a couple of the big money race teams had much to do with those rule changes.

The boats are going to be faster, conditions could be much more dangerous. Should be fun!

I am still very excited to be running again.
We feel we have a legit shot at winning, I'm not into the 3 or 4 hour power cruise either.

If you happen by Team 555 pits, stop and say hello.

Otherwise, I'll be at the bar afterward and you can buy me a victory beer!

Do you guys expect the rules to be tweaked for next year's race? When do they usually change them (how much lead time do teams get to build/tweak their boats to the new rules)??? :hmm

The last I heard was I will be division VII.

But - that rule sounds like I fit in division V just fine.

Be very ready Barney. The only thing that will keep me from drowning you will be if you have Jenny in the boat.

I have a better idea - she can ride with me.

Per the finalized rules, there is only six divisions with division VI being unlimited. Your boat definitely fits in div. VI. Per the rules: DIVISION VI: (A) Single and Multi Engine Outboards (B) Multi-Engine Inboards (C) Turbines

Just a thought... How bad of a rooster tail does your Arneson throw? I know that last year they made the jet guys keep the diverters down because of the tails. I would put a wash plate above the prop to keep the roost down. I guarantee that someone will cry about it and try to cause problems for you. Blame a rooster tail as a safety problem. The jet guys are limited to: "Jet-O-vator types adjustable nozzles may be used but must be limited to 5 degrees above the planing surface of the boat and shall remain in the full down position at all times when operating in or near pit row." If you can keep your root down below 5 degrees, you can at least say that are below the standards set by the jets.

Just a thought. Trust me, we were bitten once by technical errors made by a certain member of the rules committee.

I have been talking with the powers that be for quite a while about bringing the Eagle to the Parker. They have had all kinds of ideas to try to make it fair. One was to make Division VII just for the Eagle. I do not know what they have decided but it really does not matter as I am actually comming to drink beer with Barney.

Some other thoughts have been to do promotion, we may even raffle off a few laps in the back seat.

And, yes the roost will be considerable. I will have to look into that.

Lots of pics of The Eagle running in all of it's former lifes but none in the current configuration. The transformation has been quite a job and has taken 3 times longer than I thought - but --

The last of the oil and fuel lines will be fabricated tomorrow and the last of the wiring will be complete by Sunday.

I should fire the turbine and have it in the water by Wednesday. That gives me a couple of weeks for shakedown. Not too much testing as 100+ gallons / hour will deflate the Parker fund in a hurry.

I know that is cutting it close but this crap would not be any fun if it was easy.

I'm sooo glad I'm not drinking alone this year.
I plan on getting totally fucked up and embarrassing myself.
As I told you before, you bring the Eagle, I'm watersking behind it.
