Saw a guy dressed in fatigues, black boots and a pack, people are throwing cash at him. None of his dress is current military.

There's a guy on the freeway off ramp by my house the has a sign claiming to be a vet and he needs cash.

No one would give him shit, do to the none belief factor. Now he stands with his sign and a military ID in his hand.
I still don't know if I believe it.

I don't give those people a penny anyways.

My wife went to the grocery store the other day. Standing out front of the store was a so called deaf guy looking for a hand out. My wife felt sorry for him so she gave him a buck. When my wife was leaving the store she saw the same guy through the store windows with his eyes on the parking lot and his back to the doors. My wife said that at the sound of grocery store doors opening he immediately turned his head and attention towards the door. My wife saw his reaction and knew right away she fell for another panhandling scam...

I will offer them some food now and then, many graciously take it, other have no interest at all. It has been the best way I can differentiate the needy from the wanty :D

STOLEN VALOR!!! Fuck these people and fuck all panhandlers. I don't give SHIT anymore. Haven't for years! 98% of them are strung out or drunks. The other 2% are at there last resort and have exhausted all other means.

Those that truly need it WON'T stand on a street corner and beg for it. Especially a service member with ANY pride.

If it Military and begging it's former military that is now strung out or drunk himself. Helping any of them just makes you (general statement not person specific) an enabler. I ended any generosity i had the day I bought a "bum" a big ass 6 dollar burger cause he asked for money for food. I didn't have cash but had the ability to buy the burger. I gave it to him, no thanks he just took it. As I got in my car he threw it in the garbage! Didn't even open it. Took every ounce of energy I had to keep from stomping a mud hole in his chest.

Panhandlers are the pigeons of our kind. The city I worked for did a big study a few years ago and found out some interesting facts. About 70% have a place of residence. Almost half had a vehicle. Most were on some sort of aid and made about 25,000 a year panhandling.. tax free. So when one comes up and tries to get money from me I just ask them, "Do I look the the kind of guy who would give you money?" They usually just walk away.

I hate the ones that get a puppy to make you feel bad for them and ask for food for both of them. So every day the same guy would hang out by where I worked and every day I would swing thru mcdonalds and buy a dollar hamburger then drive up to the dude and throw the dog the hamburger. The dog usually would win the scrap on who got the burger!

wearing 'camo-garb' or claiming Veteran status for a handout seems pretty low to me . Anyone can go through a 'bad time', but only losers or mental patients make it a 'life's work' . If you can understand what you are doing, you can understand seeking real help for yourself . By the way, if you spray my windows, or touch my car again, you will instantly join the ranks of the "totally disabled panhandling squad" .

THe ones who really disgust me use their kids as part of their panhandling scheme. There is a couple in Eastvale who panhandles in the Ralphs parking lot. They have their toddler kids right there with them and another baby in a stroller. There is another couple with kids near the Costco in Corona. Totally disgusts me that these people use their kids to gain sympathy and money. In both of those spots, there are Home Depot's nearby. I have wanted to tell the guy so many times that he should go work as a day laborer and stop using his kids for sympathy.

Colorado Blvd off ramp from the 210 east bound. I use this exit pretty much everyday to jump into the carpool lane. Dudes must have a set schedule with each other cause its the same guy on the same days working that corner. All of them talking on the cell with one hand out and a sign leaning on the fence. I give the Friday guy a Ziploc bag of milkbones every now and then cause I like his dog.

A couple does this near our grocery store a few times per month. They must be doing pretty well since they are not out there all the time.

I couldn't agree more. I will no longer contribute any money to anyone standing on a street. Fuck that degenerate scumbag that stands there and begs only to hop in a car and roll home to a nice house. A guy that uses military apparel to generate sympathy/money should be shot on site.

Completely agree. Saw this one guy with a cast on his right leg one week and it was on his left leg the next week. Anytime I have ever tried to give them food they look at me like WTF and then question what I am giving them. Then there's the tweakers with the elaborate stories. Had 2 20 year old chicks pull up to me in a home depot parking lot in a beat up shitty car telling me this long story about how they just need a little money and I can write down their address off their ID so they can pay me back blah blah. The whole time the one chick was telling me this story the other chick was sitting in the car withdrawing her ass off from whatever drugs she was on. fucking scamming POS's

There are quite a bit of transients in and around my neighborhood. I am up the street from the major bus and train station in Oceanside.

We are out every night walking our dogs. We've seen some interesting stuff. A few weeks back, we were following one bum giving another bum the 'tour' of Oceanside. He was telling him what alleys to pick through and which ones to stay away from. Told him which houses were nice and where you can pick their fruit from their trees... amazing.

With the summer months approaching, more and more bums are coming. Over the last two weekends, I have been out in our yard or in the boat on the street and three different groups (2 -3 people) asked me to use my toilet, get them water, use my phone, asked for money and asked for a ride to San Diego. WTF? No!

Now these folks were not mentally ill or looked down on their luck. Just groups of 20 somethings, all dirty and skinny, guitars in hand just floating through life. No compassion from me.

When I was stationed at pendleton in the 90s it was bad! Bad bad! Our weekend libo briefs included them in some manner. Idk what it is about transportation hubs like oceanside and all others of it's size. You want great entertainment? Go ride public trans for a day. Lol

We've talked to some. Riding the rails is a very inexpensive way to very around. Coming from LA or the IE. Unfortunately, it is life down here. This is a cool town!

Pasadena is the WORST! This coming from someone who absolutely loves it there, but Damn if there aren't panhandlers on every corner.

210 exit at Hill, has the same guy, all the time. I want to say his sign says Vet. 210 at Lake, every single corner has someone, In every direction.

Saw a guy in Bakersfield a few weeks ago who had a sign that read:

"Please help! My wife had a better lawyer"

He was getting cash and laughs.

stand around on the street corners in Inglewatts ? They know how to be seen where the drivers have cash to hand out, unlike hanging in the 'hood' and getting Rick rolled and Bitch slapped, before the pawn shop even opens . It's a selfish mindset and a skilled laborer, who is able to get the cash under pretense while escaping all other forms of responsibility .
