I like this one too.
Me and wifey are gonna be proactive with our grand baby’s upbringing.
Don’t get me wrong, his parents are doing a phenomenal job but we have resources that they don’t.

I think just about all of us have 10 fingers and 10 toes there Napa😉

I remember my dad teaching us multiplication when we were 6 or 7 and he turned it into a game. He would just yell out across the house 6x8 and we would yell out the answer. It was fun but then he would also smack us if we got it wrong after a while lol.
In the third six week grading period of my third grade year, multiplication tables were introduced as a part of the math curriculum. I was struggling with it.

One night in early December I was working on it, getting nowhere, and my Dad said "Tell you what. Learn the tables by Christmas recess, and I'll buy the .22 rifle you've been wanting." Dang, talk about motivation! It was just 2½ weeks away.

But it was difficult. I was finally able to recite through 12 X 12, but Dad didn't let on if the goal had been earned. I didn't know until Christmas morning, and after opening the box, it took me about two minutes to get dressed and head out across the desert with my new rifle.

I'd be more than surprised if third graders today are learning multiplication. It's probably been replaced by counting how many different genders or pronouns the kids can come up with, and 50% of parents, the liberal fucktards, are perfectly good with that.

I learned my multiplication tables and could recite them all. I bet very few kids could do that now.

I'll take that bet. Both my kids had to know their "math facts" (what you and I would call multiplication tables) by the end of the third grade.

I learned to count change at my first real job. The trick is not do math in your head but simply count it out starting with pennies to the nearest $0.05, then nickels, dimes or quarters to get to the cash amount handed to you. The guy I worked for wanted to hear me count the change back to the customer. I still do that today when getting change back, LOL.

If you are going work giving people change ( at a register ) then you should know what you are doing. But I will say that my Son who works his ass off in construction and can read blueprints use measuring tools etc. has never used cash. He's 25 and everything is Venmo, Debit card, online banking. These kids don't even know what cash is. They don't teach it in school and they don't use it in real life I guess as a parent I failed in that area. We just taught them show up early and work harder than everyone around them.

His group of friends are cops, nurses , contractors, salesman, etc. They all work hard and are doing well but they don't have a future in fast food : )

As Adam Corolla said they are not " Taco Bell material "

Imagine them converting fractions to decimals like we do in the construction industry, which most of us old timers do in our heads.

When my kid was a teenager he applied for a job at the hobby lobby. He had to take a math test. He finish the test they told him his score, was 92. They said they never had anyone get a 92 before. He thought oh shit I don’t get the job. They said the highest anyone ever scored was a 72.
My daughter applied for a restaurant hostess position. Went in for an interview. They asked her what the square root of 144 was. She said 12. He said you’re hired you’re smarter than 80% of the people that work here.

Try having them convert 10th's to Inches. I'm a grade checker making a decent living on 4th and 5th grade math. I'm teaching guys in their 20's, 5 years younger than me, and they have no concept of the formulas. Can't figure out how these people are making it in life.

I admit that I am not great at math, but working at Sears (South Coast Plaza, paint dept.) as a summer job after high school but before college in 1981, I learned how to make change. It was rare someone used a credit card, and if they did, we had to look up the card number in a book to see if it was still good.

I worked at a Chevron Station when I was 16 and we also had to look up CC numbers in a book - specifically Chevron Cards. I confiscated a couple of them from customers that weren't too happy about it - for a reward.

The ding bat governor in Oregon just made math and reading not required to graduate. Tell me how that's going to work out.
I just looked this up to remind myself of the details (happened in '21). The article stated that "this makes Oregon the 17th state to adopt the "no requirement" graduation model." Yep, we are doomed. Oh, but wait, my property taxes have gone up plenty in the past two years, the state needs waaay more money for education ?

I learned this at age 25 on the job. I didn't even know what fractions were : O I learned fractions by using a ruler. Then I learned fraction decimal conversions by a cheat sheet I had hanging over my desk. School was not my thing but while failing in school I did have two jobs one of them was working at Sears selling mens clothing and yes running a register making change 🤣

I guess my point is that "some" of these kids who want to work will learn and become productive.

Learned to count change at an early age. Served me well in high school as retail in the late 60’s was always looking for help.

I’ve reached the point in my life where I carry bills only and try to avoid anything that requires brain activity from a cashier.

As a side note, anyone ever have change issue at In n Out? Their crews impress the hell out of me. They are always moving.

Bunch of rookies getting back big bills instead of singles for the strip club.:p

In your wallet you probably have all the faces on the bills pointed in the same direction, too.

Am I right? Lol
