Upack pods delivered Friday March 3rd. Second car loaded up to be transported to NH same day.
Brought motorhome out of storage today to tighten things up for the week or so trip from N.CA to southern NH, Epsom to be exact.
Saying it’s gonna be an adventure is an understatement. 😬

Check wind report on interstate 80. I got stuck in Rawlins, WY for 4 days two weeks ago because the wind was blowing big rigs over & they closed every road in & out

Thanks Rob. Yea, I still have your number.
I really don’t want to take the southern route as it will add an extra day of travel. We’re gonna have 3 dogs and a couple cats in crates so we really need to get there as quick as possible.
I do appreciate the offer and will keep you in mind if we do end up going that way. 😊

Good luck on your journey and new start in New H. I assume you've checked the weather across the northern route. Safe travels

Our only child moved there. Met a great gal. Got married and they had a baby, probably gonna be our only grand. Me and wifey are retired and wanted to leave CA after retirement so our mind as to where to move to was made for us. 😊
We are in the same boat only one child. Our paths have crossed with our son for the last 9 years since he went off to college. Our son has not found the right person so we are not faced with the move you are doing. I could see us doing the same thing that you are doing. I hope that all goes smooth with the move and your family continues to blossoms!!!

How is the boating season up there Or is it only ice fishing?

Wow, NH sure has changed since I left in '88. That housing tract looks like it could be in CA!😁 Must have grown like crazy around there.

Well, at least you're close to the drag strip and Hampton Beach. 👍

Not a tract. It’s a one off built on a half acre that someone sold off from an acre lot. All established houses around it.

Saw some pics the other day of a few of the regulars doing some speed passes on the delta.😁

I check the weather daily. We don’t have a set date yet because I need to make as sure as possible we have a decent path from here to there weather wise.

Sorry, not trying to be a dick. Just looks like from the photo that the houses were right on top of each other. Having come from a very rural area of NH, it seemed a bit shocking. Also strange to see stucco houses there.

Looks like a very nice house. 👍

Embrace the culture shock. My SoCal & Hawaiian Island surf bum nephew moved to upstate NY and actually liked it way more than he expected.👍
Travel safe, I'd expect plenty of weathered roads.😎 I know you wanna arrive asap with all the pets and all but keep in mind there isn't a prize or checkered flag waiting(safety first please).
Wonder how many one finger salutes you'll get arriving in a Cali plated moho?😁

The pic posted above is the house we’re leaving.
Here’s a couple pics of the house we’re moving into.

I think they’re more concerned with the Massholes and New Yorkers to worry much about us. 😁

Thank you and thanks for the reminder of the networking abilities of the RDP members.
We’re certainly hopeful for a not too eventful trip but do know there are plenty of helpful people a few key strokes away if needed between here and there. 😊

We just completed our move from So Cal to N. Idaho this past week. What a challenge with all of the bad weather and snow! Towing a trailer in a blizzard is not much fun. Going across the northern states this time of year is sketchy at best. Winds and snow are probable and as said above could delay you significantly. Might be worth the xtra day or two to go the safer route? Check the weather reports and see what is best for you. Good Luck and Safe Travels.

I am looking forward to hearing all about the new area from the perspective of being new to the state and area.

For my wife and I, it was like restarting the life clock. There are the memories before moving, and then after moving. We no longer had to wonder if something happened 10 years ago or 5. For us, did the memory happen while in Arizona or Florida? My point is, moving seemed to slow the life clock down. We actually enjoyed learning where the local grocery store, hair cutting, and other such necessities were. It was also fun taking day and weekend trips as we explored our new surroundings.

Keep us updated. It will be fun to hear about the new place. Even the mundane stuff. It is all part of the moving experience.

One last thing……. If New Hampshire is anything like Florida, I highly suggest you get the California license plates off your vehicles as soon as possible. Just an observation ………. that is not very friendly.

I moved to northern NV from the central valley. That was a big enough change for me. Winterizing is something I never thought of or worried about. Now I know.

We had one of our vehicles shipped out in November. We were going to be there for Christmas and were planning on renting a car for a week so we decided to ship out the SUV, use it during our stay and store it at the new house until we get there. So before our flight back I wanted to get it washed before parking it in the garage at the house. As I was drying it a guy drying his car next to me noticed the Ca plate and said something like "looks like you have a long drive home". I said it's staying, we're moving here in a couple of months. He then said "welcome to New Hampshire". I thought that was pretty cool.

We spent a few weeks in rural Vermont several years ago. Most of the people were conservatives and had nothing good to say about the invaders from Massachusetts.

Good luck to you! That's quite a trip.
We visited friends in Ramona CA and 6 months later we pulled up stakes in Illinois and moved to AZ 21 years ago.
Towed the boat with the rv and vet with the uhaul.
Left everything else behind including friends and family
We wanted a new life
No regrets

Looks like we’re gonna go the 40 route. Weather across 80 looking funky at best.
First stop looks to be Ft. Mohave. Wife’s sister lives there and it’s right at what I think is a decent drive for a day.
We’ll be there early evening 3/19 leaving fairly early 3/20.

Thanks C.
I wouldn’t quite quantify it as balls. More like high motivation from the other half of the relationship. 😁

My wife flat out refuses to be 3000 miles away from our only child and our only grand boy. New Hampshire seems cool. "Live free or die"
When I meet my wife in 1985 I was pretty much loaner in a since, 27yo, worked 70hrs week, had some fun with close friends. Things in life pretty much changed when I meet her, strong family ties and actually see each other almost every day.
We have 1 daughter that recently gave us or 4th grandson. He's (Hunter/6m), my crazy Hazel Peach/2.5y, Levi (Buddy)/8y and probably my favorite though she thinks I'm nuts sometimes Delilah/15y.
We have been blessed that my wife has never had to work and has helped bring all 4 of them up...well more than helped as both daughter and SIL have 40hrs weeks. In any event we wouldn't have it any other way.

Good for you 2 to follow your kid/family, your going to love it!

We'll be 65/60 this year and in the end family is all that matters...

That should work out better. 40 has tons of huge potholes in the #1 (slow) lane, especially at every small bridge.
We are +/- 50 miles north of I-44, have 3.5 acres for your animals & fairly easy to get to. Closest town is Laurie but our address is Sunrise Beach off highway 5 which runs north/south from 44. Easy to head north from our place & catch interstate 70E.
Hope to see u

I can understand that.

We have one daughter, who lives only 5 minutes away with our son-in-law and grandson. We used to be 20 minutes away, and chose to be even closer when we downsized after retirement. Before retirement, we talked about moving to Arizona, but we came to realize that couldn’t be our reality. It would kill my wife, and to be honest I probably wouldn’t like it either. There’s nothing better than getting those calls from my grandson asking me to help him with something, be it building a desk to driving him to golf or martial arts, or the occasional bike ride together.

You’re going to love it!

First leg, out of seven, of our cross country journey is officially in the books. Drove 573 miles today from the old house in Vacaville to Ft. Mohave. Wife has a sister that lives here. We’re parked in front of her house.
Fairly uneventful except for an awning issue on 58 near Edwards. Nothing a couple of zip ties couldn’t fix.
Heading out 9ish tomorrow for leg two- an RV park this side of Albuquerque. It’s around 500 miles from here.
Ten plus hours of driving is tiring. Only have to do it six more times. 🤪

Internet sucks here. I’ll post pics later.
