In the Mag they are forged, in the old MPI's they are cast if memory serves..

is that what you were asking? In the 383 stroker deal they are forged.. If that's what you were asking.

RD

forged is good. especialy if you ever think about putting a blower on it. the older(mpi 350&377%496stuff) all had hyperutectic(sp?) pistons that are....good for N/A. the 502mags used forged also...n stuff.

Just found out that the one my buddy had Bob build for him had the 496 MAG HO in it. Open bow walk through with some pretty nice blue tribal-like flames. I think 4 of us in, full of gas, in about 2' chop when it was still pretty new, we ran right at 75 on GPS.

My opinion, The Stileto is one of the best all around boats out there in the price range.
Do you happen to have any photos of your buddy's Stiletto? Or happen to know what year it is? Haven't seen many with blue tribal flames. I usually see blue on different design patterns. I have one very similar to the one you're describing and I'm trying to track down its owner history.

Shit man, that was a LONG ass time ago. I do not. Unfortunately, he sold that boat, bought a Magic then passed away a few years after that. He had that boat probably about 15 years or so ago at this point.

Man that's really unfortunate to hear. Yea mine has been passed around a little bit. And to my knowledge, around that same time. Some pretty negligent owners at some points so I hope it's not the same boat for the sake of your buddy. Did it happen to look similar to this?

Similar for sure. Did it have a monster stereo in it? After it was done at Cheetah, he took it to his stereo guy and had an insane system installed. I don't remember if it had under hatch speakers or not. But my god that thing was loud and CLEAN.

Then my guess it is different boat. When I got it, it didnt come with almost any of the audio equipment. It came with a generic Pioneer head unit and two 6x9 Pioneer speakers for the bench seat. Theres spots for 2 more 6x9s and 2 5.5" at the front. MAYBE space for two subs in the "crawl" space. unsure if that was the intent.
Hopefully one day I can track down the previous owners and asked wtf they were thinking when dealing with certain things. Injectors were incorrect, injector harness was wrong, floor got mushy a long time ago, unfortunately a lot of spider webbing in the gel near bimini mounts, swim steps, bow rail, etc. It's unfortunate but I got a decent deal for a pretty hull and a pretty strong engine. Hopefully I can give it what others haven't.

It could be, just someone pulled the equipment out. I mean it would all be quite old at this point. If I recall correctly, it had 2 10's in front of the helms, 4 speakers total up front and I think 4 total in the rear seating area? That's about all I remember about it though. He was the most anal person I have ever met with his stuff. He was the type of guy you WISHED you could buy something from. No bullshitting and everything was fixed and maintained with the best of the best in every way.

Well from the sounds of it, I sure wish I had bought it directly from him.
Oh the best part... Someone swapped the computer on the engine with one from the wrong year and there is no physical hour meter so I have no clue how many true engine/hull hours it has... Incredible. Gotta love when people mess around with stuff. I appreciate the insight. Hopefully I can track down the true ownership chain. Truly curious to know where things got completely messed up.

You said he was the original owner right? What was his name? Cheetah said they could only get me info/history about boats based on the owner or buyers name. They don't keep records by Hull ID (which I find insane)...

Ill send you a PM. That does seem nuts that they don't have the 2 on some paperwork together.

The cheetah I previously owned had a pro marine 540. Clock 103. Miss that boat.
