Close to Honda Center, Angel Stadium and Disneyland.

Wife had a blood cancer treatment seminar-a-thon at the Convention center so we took the RV for the week.
$85+ taxes a nite, her employer picked up the tab. The close by Elks RV camp ground is $30 when it's on me.

Not bad but they really favor their regulars and hold the best sites for them. Reservation or not, the good sites sit empty and only for those they favor. Sites could use better tree trimming for guys with custom paint jobs but I carry my own clippers and make it work. Orange trees galore pick all ya want. No rigs over 10 years old is the rule but not so enforced if they know you goes the tale.

We Uber'd around Anaheim because parking the Dually is $45 a day everyplace.
That is we Uber'd until we got caught up in a Uber scam.

The scam rolls like this:
You press the Uber app icon on your phone and put in the pick up drop off info. If it's a short ride like say from the Disneyland ride share lot to your hotel:

Akbar accepts your ride but shows up in a close-by location you can't get to nor have any communication with Akbar to find him like you should. In the Disneyland case, the Howard Johnsons across the street is where the Uber drivers hide. Ubers computers register the driver arrived at your location as requested. You have no clue Akbar is there, he doesn't call to dial you in, he's hiding.

Uber then registers YOU as a no show, Akbar gets a $5 no show fee and Akbar waits for a longer, more profitable fare to pop up like to the LAX airport or Hollywood.

It's raining, you have no clue what's happening, nor do 20 other families from around the world waiting for their Uber either. We're all dead in the water as Akbar and his friend hide nearby.
So heads up.

Use Lyft, the drivers have no clue where you are going until you are seated in the car. Lyft is about $1 more per trip, but no scams.

Nope:
We're told they know in advance if you press it in when you request the ride, and the people at Uber agreed when we complained. Lyft drivers that are also Uber drivers are the ones that explained the scam to us. They claim the Ubers driver know, the Lyft drivers don't.
It's how we learned.
I've had the Uber drivers even confirm the drop off location before we entered the car.

Also I just got a text back from Lindsey a Uber driver we know:
“I need to know the destination because I commute to Santa Barbara and need to pick
Up rides going that way and back home to make it work and pay for me.”

Well I stand corrected, when I drove for Uber for a little bit, you didn’t know where they were going until they got into the car. This was 4 years ago

I know about 6 months ago maybe a little longer they gave drivers the option to put in the direction they wanted to travel. They can do that 3 times a day. I thought this was a good thing as they can now start heading home at the end of a day not farther away. Not sure if this change has something to do with it.

I’ve been driving Uber/ Lyft for the last 2 months. Unless the driver is messaging the rider there is know way he knows the final destination before he swipes “start ride” in either app. I’ve also driven around Disneyland and it’s a bitch. If you request a pickup from inside the park and not one of the designated pickup points it’ll try to direct the driver into service entrances etc. Eventually after trying to chase down a $3.ride for 15 min sometimes I gotta cancel...

I never have... once you start the ride you have to “drop off”, completing the ride. This would charge the customer for the ride. I’m sure it happens, but I’m sure Uber/Lyft have safeguards against it happening repeatedly.

The city transit that we used was called the ARTS. $5 for the day or $1 each way. Every 30minutes they would come to the little shuttle stop.
