If you were to open or purchase an existing business right now, what would it be? Literally anything other than a food franchise.

Misc steel fabrication shop.

Welded strut assemblies, non-structural tube steel for decorative finishes, AESS steel , welded table frames, support frames, light gauge steel brackets and bent metal shapes. Nothing that requires certified welders or inspection. Maybe stainless steel shelving, paneling and countertops as well.

Open up shop in Ft Mohave, AZ. Low cost for commercial building space / land, cheap power, close proximity to 40W for delivery to So-Cal construction projects. Need welders and powdercoat resources. Have connections for a lot of work.

Who's coming with me......

Probably put together a pool building company in north TX. They are having the same issues Havasu is having, but on a much larger scale.

Most likely something on the internet, that's what I'm most familiar with. Though I miss working with my hands

What's the problem with a franchise? We have been looking into a couple options to invest in.

Good stuff...Keep them coming...

Since I can't find many home deals to flip/rent I want to purchase businesses.

I can't get it to pencil out...

I am...Lots of changes coming to our industry...I want to be prepared.

You gotta sit down with Jessie and Stacy for a real meeting. I can’t see how it wouldn’t granted I don’t know all your details..

But from what I’m seeing it’s ridiculously good

I could get ya in the boat Mfg biz pretty quick..

I got seriously interested in doing a franchise business as a territory I was interested was open. Spoke to several owners of similar concepts/and some franchise owners of the exact business I was looking into. @LakeMead Boater gave me a lot of his experience and I ultimately decided against it for a variety of reasons, though I think for a lot of people and situations franchises are a great option.

I've always been surprised that a batteries plus franchise has never opened in havasu...

Key is the "right" franchise for that location. There isn't really a single one that is perfect everywhere.

Zaxby's franchise when they offer locations in Ca. Closest one from the south is Utah.

Debt Consolidation

Those living on the edge are going to be eaten alive w/ rising costs of consumables. Once the cards are maxed out, they'll stop making payments.
Credit repair is one I've been considering.

Test it. Drive out to the 10 and 60FWYs (east of the 15FWY) and start putting up signs at the exits and see how many calls you get.

I have my long time friends in the Mortgage Industry. When that shits the bed, they move to Debt Consolidation and Suing Mortgage Companies with a partner attorney for Mortgage Mods. Rinse and Repeat.

Its a slime ball industry, and my friends fly every weekend to Miami or Vegas to party. All in their mid 40's, married with kids. I guess the wifes put up with it because money is flowing.

They never grow up.

Weed!!! Wholesale side no consumer side

Or chic fil a franchise in havasu!!

I looked at the tire shop one and it didn’t pencil out for me too.
2.2 million on chic fil a. Damn lol

Edit: nvm that’s the average cost. Chic Fil a covers all costs and requires only 10k net worth.

.1% of applicants are approved though

Do you at least get to stay in your “area”? Or could you end up 100 miles away?

I have been doing homework on franchises also. Not limited to the idea but thinking its an option. Seriously considering buying a small business. looking for the right option. I need to do something different than I am right now.

@OldSchoolBoats I would love to talk a little about where you are in this process. I am looking for something that can be cookie cutter and potentially end up owning multiple units if I go the franchise route.

The margins are very low.
I believe Froggy’s dad owned one and his profit margin per gallon was under .02 a gallon.

I have a buddy that owns a chevron on the I5 corridor in oregon. Pays himself well over $150k a year right now not including profit share. He is in his mid 40s and killing it. The inside is set up like an old "soda bar" its actually pretty cool! Old skool food like steamed hot dogs, pots with sausages cooking in beer, he was one of the first to have the "old school" looking pop machines that can mix different flavors. And even if you think about it, yes they make a small margin of a gallon of fuel. But when almost every pump is running all day, shit adds up quick! With not alot of over head.

If I had the money a gas station would be high on my investment list for a business. Jmo

Don’t remember. I know if you already have one in an area they keep it close for the 2nd, 3rd.

But I was thinking Havasu as well.

I think it would all depend on one's skillset or strengths, as well as their goals. I'm not a baller or good with finances, so all the banking and credit would be out. Any type of job requiring inventory or product replacement would scare me as well, as I've seen some materials get more costly and rare. Hard to plan ahead. Depending on location, just normal "repairs" could do well for a bit. If the market tanks, old cars, appliances and equipment will have to be kept running, as new stuff may be too expensive to replace.
I know it's too mundane for some, and not a way to get rich, but it seems to always get busier with those things when other markets slow.

That’s why he’s doing well. Gas stations make there money in the store and not gas.

Weed at the wholesale level is starting to fall off. Not a good time in my opinion to be getting into that at this level. There are alot of established companies here in Oregon that are seeing the drop and are worrying about the future. The market is flooded and peeps are damb near giving shit away. 5yrs ago, yes set your shit up and watch the $ flow. But to get in at this point is going to he tough if your name is not established.

Franchise? Your money and life being controlled by others for peanuts

Weed? The time to do that is over, too much government oversite, too many stupid people that believe in the product without a brain

Find something where you don't have to deal with the public or government

I have no idea what the margins are. But firearms store? A lot of licenses I’m sure but it seems the only edge you need is more inventory than the next guy. Obviously a huge hurdle but if you could buy enough in bulk you may get an edge?

Either way people will be in your store every day.

Franchises aren't bad, and not all are multiple $millions to get into. Yes, chances are that your income will be limited with a single franchise, but people that I know who are successful with franchises usually own multiple.

I think there's also a lot of white space for rack storage in LHC.

Care to explain your statement?
The disciples and weed practitioners that push the glories of cannabis but have been hit with the bong waaaaay too many times and have absolutely no business acumen or common sense. Some were good people, some had great products, some had good processes, some had good black market businesses and all had the belief that weed was god. Unfortunately they were the majority when things were opened up here
