They can get court records that are available to anyone. Including criminal, civil, traffic, bankruptcies etc. They cannot get DOJ or FBI criminal histories. Most courts used to purge after 5-10 years. Now the records stay there. They are mainly a service that compiles data that you can pay a couple of bucks to look up yourself.

If you can get a business to give you the appropriate forms and request a live scan, your DOJ and FBI files can be searched. However, not every county updates their cases to the DOJ as they should or records them in a way that can be sent in, so if you have lived in multiple places, and may have a record, you have to pay the country fee in each county to check. Some are pretty cheap, some are pricey for the check. Also, some businesses that run background checks, just request a thumbs up or a thumbs down from the company they hire to do the check, so they can't even find out why you didn't pass. They may not even tell you which particular things they pay to have searched. I looked into setting up BG checks for a possible business, and there really is no one way to get everything that exists.

So, as mentioned above, Google, BBB, and do a records check in the counties you have lived or operated a business on your own.

I have gone on people finder and found a lot of information and it's only a couple bucks, just make sure to cancel your subscription within the trial period. You can look up yourself.

The new trend is using two legal names. One is used for drivers licenses, so if you get a DUI, or criminal record, only you know that name, and then have a screen name, similar to Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, you use for business, and outside communication, and college diplomas, etc.

No one will figure out your past. If you set this up, before turning 18.
