Being so close to 29 Palms, we often get young Marines in. It's obvious who they are as soon as they walk in. Young, polite and very respectful. "Yes sir, no ma'am" etc.

Occasionally, they get a little loud after a few drinks, always having fun though. I'll usually send them an anonomous round of drinks. Then another, with a message from the server or bartender............

"This round is the senders way of saying 'thank you' for fighting for our freedoms and protecting our country. You boys may not realize it, but, you have MANY supporters here at home"

Every once in a while, as the Marines drink and let loose, they start talking about a fellow Marine, KIA. Things start to get a little crazy, shot after shot are ordered in the name of the Marine KIA.

The doormen we have will come to me and ask..........
"Hey boss, do you want me to tell them to quiet down?"

I tell him............
"Nope. They ain't hurting anyone. Let them have fun and send them another round of drinks. Don't tell them it's from me though....."

If it gets too crazy (Only once in the last 11 years) I just ask the leader of the pack to ask his men to respect my business. His response? "Yes sir, I'll square them away right now". :thumbsup:D

If this guy that was awarded the Navy Cross comes in (good chance of that too) he won't be allowed to spend a dime. I'll fight him before I let him spend money in here.

Great post, Roc :thumbsup

There are lots of guys who should never have to pay a dime for drinks when they walk into a bar. Clearly, this is one of them.

Roc, you're another one of those guys

I can never thank these guys enough for what they do...

Being miltary appreciation month I was at applebees with a friend yesterday evening by the Foothills Mall here in Tucson. There was a military family in there Dad was dressed in uniform, mom and daughter were in civil clothes.

I told my server who was serving him & his family that I wanted to take care of thier bill.. They were there before me so they finished and were leaving before me which worked out perfect. Sever gave them the bill and let them know that I had taken care of the bill for them. They came over and he was all but in tears said no one has ever thanked him in such way. He was speachless his wife was crying and his daughter was just as emotional. He is leaving on his 3rd deployment in 3 weeks.
