Damn. I can only imagine the memories you have at that place. It would be amazing to grow up in an area like that. Best part is you would never know you were in California.

Bakersfield?
To the right of it. Never heard of it. Had to look it up. Buddy inherited a property south of it in stallion springs. And one of the ladies from dog training has a big spread in Tehachapi where she runs a Doberman rescue.

Not to far from me. Looks nice and at that price for 50 acres. Just not sure how far the tweeks are from there. Probably can't leave it empty for long.

I worked in caliente for awhile. You accessed it through jawbone canyon. About 20 miles in from the 14. I liked it but it was always windy.

Looks like a sale is pending. I can’t imagine what insurance costs, especially fire insurance.

I dont mean any disrespect here but 50 acres in California with a house?
10k an acre and
49k for a house sounds stupid cheap for anywhere to me. Especially California.
Is the fact that it is in California why it seems cheap or am I missing something?

With traffic about 3+ hours to my area. Nice spreads out that way. But commuting would kill me. Be nice to have as a ranch primary house. And stay here during week for work.

Looks like a great place. The airstrip is still there according to Google Earth, it would be handy to have based on the location of the house.

I imagine the relatively low price is due to the isolated location. Some of us would consider that a feature, but most would consider it a bug. Personally I would live on a spread like that in a heartbeat.

Absolutely beautiful country up there, i was just up in the Walker basin grabbing a parts tractor that fell victim to the Borel wildfire just a bit north of your grandparents place. Cant imagine having to drive that Caliente-Bodfish road on a regular basis…..whoever put that road had to be a maniac.

Cool to hear about the history of your family, they sounds like a bunch of bad asses!

Probably best for someone who can pay cash for it and self insure. Otherwise future fire insurance might become impossible or unaffordable.
