Anybody know anything about old tools? I have had for as long as I can remember a Stanley 6" level. Three patent dates on it: 9-2-91, 2-4-96, & 6-23-96. The 96 I think is 1896 not 1996. From what I have found so far the wood is cherry and the metal plate is brass. Any info?

I don't know much about old tools but I know there are a bunch of collectors, as well as a sizable group of carpenters who like to use that super old stuff.

This sort of thing definitely has some value, although I doubt you could retire off it.

I've seen several 3' levels of similar build. Brought over from the old country. But a Stanley is good old made in the USA.

I have and use a bunch of old stanley hand planes. No pictures with me though. New planes are nothing compared to the old ones, unless your talking Lie Nielson.

I found some 24" & 30" Stanley levels with the same brass plate. I hope someone didn't make this one out of one of those.

It's good to have one if you have a old STANLEY that needs leveled.
There are collector price guides. I will check to see if your level is in mine.
