Those boats put the thunder in "thunder boat." The turbines, not so much.

I remember sitting on the shore in San Diego and you could feel the sand vibrate when they hit the throttle. Good times!

When the turbines first came on the scene they would have trouble with the salt water getting in the air intake and killing the engines
OBoy! oberto was still running piston power and they'd all break and he'd win by default it was pretty cool
Then there was the strohs beer boat with twin 427 fords hooked together never completed a race as I remember but
sounded so sweet
