WHATEVER YOU DO

DO NOT EAT THE HOT DOGS ON THE SIDE OF THE STREETS.

I eat off the lunch truck all the time and have never gotten so sick from eating one of those dogs :thumbsdown

I like this place:
Lazzara's Pizza Cafe

221 W 38th St
(between 7th Ave & 8th Ave)
New York, NY

New York Pizza is super thin crust, but usually a nice sauce and toppings.
Ya fold it to eat it.

x2,000,000 on Katz deli, I honestly have thought about flying out again just for their pastrami sando.

Russ and Daughters is down the street from katz on Houston (pronounced House-Ton) and is legit old school bagel and lox.

also this place http://www.sottocinque.com/ was great food, reasonable prices and they had a great happy hour.

Have fun

I know you asked about restaurants in NYC but when are you going? NYC is an incredible city and it's even more special over the Christmas holiday. The holiday mood is ON and the smell of chestnuts roasting on an open fire (at the many carts on the streets) and the holiday decorations make it an amazing place to be. The store windows are not to be missed - Macys and all the major stores spent big bucks decorating their window displays with animated scenes you'll definitely want to see especially if you'll have kids with you.

You must visit Radio City Music Hall and be sure to buy tickets for their stage show complete with the world famous Rockettes. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience if you've never been. And you'll want to go to Rockefeller Center to see THE Tree and the outdoor skating rink (nearby is the Today Show studio).

I haven't mentioned the typical tourist places to go like the Empire State Building - go to the top and see where King Kong romped :D - and the Statue of Liberty, the Chrysler Building, take a horsedrawn carriage ride through Central Park, walk 5th Avenue (more spendy shops), Times Square!, Broadway, etc., etc.

Above all you must go to Ground Zero.

Enjoy! There's a LOT more than great food in NYC. Oh yeah, be sure to eat lots of NY pizza - it's as good as there is anywhere and the bagels are REAL bagels, not the round bread rings everyone gets outside of the NYC area.

It's not really a restaurant. You have to go to Mc Sorely's. It's the oldest bar in Manhatten, maybe even New york. Pictures of old presidents that used to go there. They only serve light or dark beer. I remember having a good corned beef sandwich.

It's a VERY old school type of place. Lots of history. If you go, you have to get the story about the dust covered wishbones hanging from the chandeliers. Maybe even shed a tear.

Great place, been there twice

Mesa Grill a Bobbie Flay joint ?!?

Yes...Flay's place.. He was actually there the night we had dinner a couple years ago. Very nice place...not too stuffy, but some amazing food...works or art.
