Of course we did, he now has the two biggest hackers (Russia and North Korea) on his side. Should be a landslide at this point...that is unless those blood thirsty Canadians don't kill us first.

I know of more Canadians that support Trump versus Trudeau...… NAFTA makes our cost of living in Canada very high. Its destroyed our manufacturing, etc..... It needed to redone 20 years ago!

Here's hoping the good news continues, while remembering that North Korean has agreed to Nuclear disarmament many times before and broke their agreement each time.

Starting with the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1985, continuing in 1992 when the two Koreas sign the South-North Joint Declaration on the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the 1994 agreement between North Korea and the Clinton Administration, and the agreement with the Bush Administration in 2007: North Koreans Agree to Disable Nuclear Facilities click --> https://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/world/asia/04diplo.html

So while signing an agreement with North Korea is nothing new, lets hope this is the beginning of real progress...(maybe Kim is ready to cash in on the "perks" the West has to offer?)

The complete history with North Korea is here - https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/dprkchron

Ya ever see Kim hop over the South Korean border before? Shake hands and plant a peace tree?

You’d be surprised the motivation that can be rallied when you got a 45 to your head. Lol. (Pun intended)

Trump is now buddies with another dictatorship meanwhile he shits on the democracies of the G7...in a nutshell.

Sometimes you have to move backwards before you can move forward.

IMHO Washington needed this change/ kick in the ass and a fresh approach to how we govern as well communicate with other countries leaders. His approach is unconventional, and at times drives me crazy, but you cannot deny its working at many levels. Regardless of the results of this meeting with NK, the meeting itself is historic and I believe speaks to DT's ability to effectively break down barriers, communicate and create relations at very high levels.

So what if we piss off the G7? Without the US the G7 is nothing. Like I said above sometimes you need to move backwards before moving forward. So what if Trump pissing off the G7 results in a better deal for the US, then what are you going to say? I think the POTUS has earned the right thru his actions and accomplishments to have us trust in his process and support the fact that he is trying to change things for the better of our country. At least we have a president that is not afraid to mix it up and make the tough decisions even if they are not "popular". Being "popular" and avoiding the tough issues is why our country is so screwed up. How about we support him and then see what happens and what can be accomplished.

If you believe all that, I've got some swamp land I'd like to talk to you about.

But I thought he was going to get us all kilt in a year...

He's doing what he was elected to do instead of simply trying to be reelected

Appears US liberal elites and the US press like Trudeau. End of story.

He has two years left...… I hope the next election we boot his liberal ass out. Even if it means a sharing of power between the conservatives and socialist NDP party... Trudeau needs to be gone at any cost!

The EU combined with Japan and Canada currently has a GDP of 23.5 trillion compared to the US GDP of roughly 19.3 trillion.

I have a hard time considering a group with a combined GDP over 20% larger than the US as "nothing" as you suggest above........the last country to make that mistake was Britain when it dominated the world economically, militarily and technologically in the 1870's thorough 1900 and we all know how that turned out. History does repeat itself if one is not careful.......

I try to never borrow trouble, the payback is always a bitch.

Let's not get out ahead of our skis on this thing and forget that the Kim regime has promised to denuke 8 times since 1992.

I commend Trump for getting this started, but the world hasn't been changed yet.

Ben Shapiro discussed it and actually read through the document that was signed on his show this morning.

Tell that to the guy that runs air boat tours, a snake farm, or an alligator farm.

In case you missed my point. You can find value in almost anything.. Liberals find negatives in almost everything.

RD
missed it? as in swing and a miss kinda missed it? Hell, he can't even begin to see it he's so busy gazing down in amazement and playing with his self proclaimed "massive cock". Really, I bet he was on the floor feeling around blindly for the tweezers he dropped while trying to coax his tiny weenie out with a cookie and grab it with the tweezers before it goes turtle again. :p:D:D

These are very different times and the US is not GB.... but I agree must be careful.

That said, I believe to successfully renegotiate the existing and negotiate future trade agreements with the G7, EU, China and Mexico will require them each to be afraid of losing something of significance. That is exactly what DT is doing, he is getting them to the table from a position of strength thru decisive actions even if those decisions are not popular and move us backwards for a period of time. The fact that he is willing to make decisions and take actions that are so very unpopular with his own US citizens strengthens his position with ALL other countries. Never before have other leaders had to deal with a POTUS that is willing to mix it up and take the heat quite like this POTUS is.

My prediction, and I may be wrong, is in the end our trading partners will come to the table, just as NK has, and new trade agreements will be struck that are better then before and incorporate modern economic dynamics that are much needed for the future interests and goodwill of the USA. If our countries leaders keep dodging these tough and sensitive issues then we will find ourselves as the number 2 power in the world real soon. Personally I am not OK being number 2.

We have an unhinged, unpredictable, want to be strong man with nuclear capability.

Apeasement by letting him think things are going his way while working to limit the damage he can do globally is a good tactic.

One can only wonder what kind of serious back channel talks are going...?

I try to stay out of the political things but it really is funny to read some of the posts here. I didn't vote for Trump (I'm a Libertarian, voted for Gary Johnson) but I like a lot of the things he's done. There is some stuff I don't like too but that's going to hold true for anyone.

I am just amused by the immaturity of the Trump haters as well as their hypocrisy. I swear Trump could cure cancer, bring world peace, solve all race relations issues, eliminate all government and law enforcement corruption, turn Bruce Jenner back into a man and make Kanye West and the Kardashians disappear forever and some of you will still bitch about him because he is not "on your side".

You don't really care about the issues, it is just pure tribalism. Because he is not one of you, you hate him. You are no better than the worst racist. You make comments about trivia things like orange skin. Could you imagine the outrage if someone made a comment about President Obama's brown skin?!? It really is laughable and pathetic.

Could not have said this better myself. I was not impressed with Trump before or when he was elected. He was kind've an embarrassment I felt but I vowed to sit back and see how he did. He is anything but subtle or conventional in his tact but I gotta say, he's kickin' ass and gettin' shit done. Left's gonna keep on hatin', always. End of story. And I'd have to whole heartidly agree with Dave, he keeps this shit up he's got another 4 years after this term absolutely. Dude gets results.

I'm curious how much each of these countries GDP accounts for their trade deficit with the United States? Another way to state it is, will tariffs decrease their GDP while increasing ours?

Bringing this topic back to the OP's intent, I have not seen anyone mention how this agreement undercuts China's leverage against the US. We all know China has been manipulating and abusing trade agreements with the US eerily similarly to what Japan did during the 90's. No one talks about what Japan did though. Buy huge amounts of US debt, then get your way with huge trade imbalances via currency manipulation and threatening US politicians that question it. Japan authored that book. China lost leverage against the US with this deal, and DT has China in his sights for leveling the playing field with trade.

Well you are a smart guy so let me give you some food for thought.

Canada, a member of the G7 has an overall trade deficit with the US, but lets put that aside for a moment.

Let's say we import 5 million dollars of coat hangers from China, but export 4 million dollars of aerospace parts. We have a 1 million dollar trade deficit with China.

However, trade deficits or surpluses are measured based upon revenue (GDP); not on gross profit, wages paid to the worker, pre-tax profits or the standard of living of a worker making an aerospace part versus the workers making coat hangers.

So is the US better off with that one million dollar trade deficit or worse off? Is net trade GDP, or put more simply revenue, the appropriate measurement for winning or losing or is wages, standard of living and pre-tax profits?

That is the complexity and conundrum of trade deficits/surpluses that seems to me to be worth considering?

Trump would argue the US was robbed of 1 million dollars. Others would argue that is a great trade deal.
