With all this electronic Razz ma Tazz with these E cars, who's to say that someone at E central can't flip a switch and shut your vehicle down.
Seems like one would be forever under the auspicious of E Central. So much for individual freedom.
An E vehicle is probably in my future, but not as the sole vehicle.

Once they get half the people on electric you will get to see how free these things are to drive, no one builds shit to save the environment and make sure everyone can drive for free.

This has been possible for years, already. Neighbors kid and some friends grabbed a vehicle one night and were driving around. Going down the road and car was coming at them from the other direction. Car shuts down and the doors lock and they cannot get out. Turns out the car coming at them was a sheriffs deputy and they were busted. This was in the early 2000's with GM's onstar, so yeah, they can be shut down remotely. Just think of all the other things that can be done without the drivers input...............

I would think the pre DEF Izuzu trucks will go up in value big time now...
They've been up in value for quite a while. 06-07 LBZ trucks are the pinnacle of those as far as used values go. But the 07.5-up LMM trucks are worth some cash too, no DEF to deal with just the DPF which is an easy "mod" to work around....

Wanna see a crazy comparison? Look at the values of 2008-2010 Duramax trucks, vs 6.4 powerstroke trucks..........
Follow the money to the better truck

Pretty sure Everyone know Ford's first few attempts at building their own diesels were epic fails.

Pretty sure Everyone knows their current offerings are pretty bad azz. The problem now is all the new electronics and shit!

So yeah, Pre def for the win.

With Ford and Izuzu anyway. 😉

Until they don’t let you register it anymore 🤣

Spoiler alert - all that crap is optional and most of it is probably covered by a service you already pay for or use for free.
Got my Box Trucks forced out. CA will be the first and everyone goes along with it.

And the Ford Lightening is not selling as they hoped. I suppose shitty range and $100k is a combo not many like.

Battery tech is one thing but there is a rover on mars that has a reactor on board. This is why my son is majoring in Nuclear Physics to create something better, cheaper, but mainly so you don't have to sit for an hr to get charged up.

just finished a rebuild of the axles, steering, trans and new monster radiator on my 2005 Dodge 2500 Cummins. Every truck with a DEF system will someday have to cough up $10K to fix it. Im going to drive the Dodge into the ground.

I read the list of subscriptions in that article and I like tech stuff, but there isn’t one thing I need, let alone want in that list.

The auto industry is going back to the 80s as far as reliability. You have to buy an extended warranty and you almost expect the dealer to find at least 1 recall every time you get your oil changed. Shit, Ford has recalls before they leave the plant.

Some day they could shutdown the flow of oil, or shutdown a few refinery‘s, or break a pipeline. 😜

We‘ve been hacking cable TV since day one. 😜

So true. As manufacturers try cutting edge technology the "teething pains" they go through to make it work right are costly to both their bottom line & customer confidence. When BMW released their 1988 7series it was an absolute nightmare electronically, my techs spent hundreds of hours diagnosing & fixing issues...even solving a unique problem that only happened in a few localized areas.

Oh yeah...my 7.3 is DEF & Cat free👍😎🤘

I think....

Those Dodge trucks have a good engine. 👍🏼

But as for Everything surrounding the engine???

I heard the scrap yards pay pretty well! 😁

HaHA, dont touch anything made of plastic in the cab of my Dodge, it will shatter in your hands but everything made of metal is great. Next upgrade are some PRP suspension seats to help my old back.

Thirteen letter shit spreaders.

The best motor ever put in a Ford truck says international all over it.

Dan'l
I'd love to agree with you but............International 6.0 and 6.4's are just about the only reasons people talk so much shit about Fords!?
Ford engineered and built IN HOUSE 6.7 is an absolute workhorse and ALL FORD.... unlike every "Ram" and GM diesel truck out there?!? How do you people not understand this?

Kool-Aid drinkers. Same people that put iPhones on the map! 👍🏼😁

And truthfully, there are Lots more reasons that that. I worked for Lincoln-Mercury for eleven years.

Never understood why anyone would buy those cars! 🤣

unfortunately people dont remember the wins as much as the fails...

for YEARS people were terrified of GM's diesels, they remembered when GM just basically slapped diesel heads on a 350 short block, or the 6.2 / 6.5 engines.

What was that Awesome design they had back in the day where they cut the cylinders out?? The 4,6,8 or some shit like that? Boy that was a Real winner! 🤣

My LBZ was a great truck. Only sold it to buy 2 new Duramax work trucks. Google Chevy tows Ford and its still a top image. The 2003 6.0 was a great truck first 5 years of its life. Should of never listened to my fleet sales rep. It would of been a 7.3 and still in my fleet.

I bought a new 2008 4WD F-250 King Ranch with a 6.4. Its regen cycle bullshit, poor performance, and shitty fuel mileage was so bad I sold it for a $7K loss six months later. It was a total POS.

Owned most of them at one time or another. Love the 12V...had three. Currently on a 2003 7.3 CC SB.

And there was this 6.2 N/A my son and I ran the piss outa on the Pismo Dunes for a few years. Foot to the floor and she wouldn't blow up...if there was a dune nobody could get over...we tried and tried till we did. We didn't wash it...just sprayed more drab green on her till the rust started showing again.

The early 80's GM diesels found in the full size cars were based on an Oldsmobile small block, with a different crank, heavier block casting and heads.

Those blocks and cranks are (or were before the LS swap era) highly sought after by Olds fanatics because they could be made into monster small blocks.
