Night ride to the Cabin Saturday night

Griner is camped out in Standard wash (we will be camped out there tomorrow night with him)

We are all doing a ride out to the cabin late night. A group of his friends are meeting at the Hacienda mini mart (McCulloch / Jamaica) at 8:30 pm to head down to standard wash to the rally point and then off to the cabin(s).

I’m not sure if I’ll be running in that group or will have my Ranger down at the campsite by then already.

Either way it’s gonna be epic! Campfire at the trailers when we are done! Come heavy!

If your in Havasu and you have a hair on your balls let me know if your down. If not stay home and wear your vagina hats and talk about how you wish you woulda!

I just got back from a ride though - Was that you at a campfire up by the spray painted rock off Bison Wash at around 6:30 tonight?

We went by, then swung back a few mins later to see if it was you, and the large SXS I thought was your Ranger was gone.

If you come down turn at the cement plant drive around the side of it and just come up and we are the second to last campers on left. Look for my white and gold F150 parked next to my trailer

Or you can meet up at the Hacienda mini mart at Jamaica and McCulloch and follow the other car(s) down at 8:30

Taylor Jones will be at the mini mart at 8:30. Or if you guys don’t want to drive all the way down I have two extra seats in my ranger and you can drive a car down here and just go for the ride then drive home. Just let me know

So I met the group at the gas station, we all left I was in the back. new canam, first day out. Headed to standard wash, the guy in front of me gets stuck. I stop and back up. He backs up and takes off to catch the group. I lose him.
the route is sort of running in the dirt on the wrong side of the highway, which has me on edge.
can't find the group but i know i have to keep heading south to run into the cement plant.
i go away from the highway along the power line road. So I'm running the middle of the desert, no spare tire taking it easy in my new ride. I learned a couple things about the canam. first, I need more light to be running at night. second the visibility over the front of the car is not as good as my old Polaris.
I got turned around, pulled out google maps and i was short by half a mile. show up at standard wash three minutes after they left for the cabin. I tried to run them down and ended up in a deadend canyon.
screw this, I've pushed my luck enough, time to head home. decide to take the highway, as im pulling into town I get pulled over by havasu's finest. he pulled me over because I had left my whip lights on. He let's ne go with a warning. nice guy.
made it home and had some drinks. im glad i didn't make the campfire for a couple drinks before i was pulled over.
couple points.
I have no hard feelings that i was left behind.
need more lights on the canam for night riding
the canam is awesome, this was my first chance without the family to get on it and the power line trail was a lot of fun.
Havasu cops are cool
made it home safe with another adventure under my belt.
4 years ago I rented a couple Polaris for the family, one broke down near sunset on the way back from the cabin, quite the adventure. this will just add another chapter of fun Thanksgiving weekend memories.
lastly, i wish i was in the middle of the desert drinking beers with a fun group of people.

I was wondering what happened to you. When you never showed at camp I just assumed you bailed on the ride.

We had 11/12 cars go out and we hit both cabins. On the subject of hitting things three if the cars hit a giant ass rock one after another. First guy hit it so hard it broke his front differential and he said the entire dash of his car came undone. Second guy bent a arms, and third guy as well.

The front diff guy turned and headed back to town. Everyone else kept going.

It was a great trip and adding the nighttime aspect made the cabins that much more fun. The washboard road sucks and everyone was complaining about that. On the way home I found my own rock and blew apart a tire and a wheel, but the car is ok. Quick tire change and made it back.

I have a ton of photos and will upload them all today as they are all on Stacy’s phone.

This was our group that made it to both cabins.

Looks like a good time. Would have loved to go, but we were beat after our ride out there all day. We didn’t get back to standard wash until well after dark. I hit that same rock and blew out a tire also. Need a new ring. Hope the rim is ok. Need to replace before Desert Bash.

There’s quite a few of them out there that can ruin your whole night.. including one hiding in a bush that I found while making an aggressive pass. Lol

The particular one that hit the three cars though, someone else hit going the other direction after we hit it.. it was actually ripped out of the ground is what I was told. I didn’t see it on the way back but I wasn’t paying attention for it either.

Would be great to tag along on one of these rides. This one I was out of town but keep me posted. Do you guys use car to car radios? It helps with letting the guys in the rear get around obstacles.
