Several prominent NHRA, AHRA and NASCAR racers were gay but didn't flaunt or discuss openly because during earlier times it was taboo.
A fellow NHRA S/S racer and his partner were a couple. They had competitive cars with the best parts, funny as hell and serious competitors. They did like hanging with all of us, drinking and swapping recipes with my wife Martie.
At no time did they come on to any of us or push an agenda.

They’re both team Kallita cars.
Have you seen Connie’s fleet of jumbo jets lately? They own over 35 Jumbo jets, mostly 747’s.
Or Dougies private jets with which he flies himself around the country?
Kalitta Air probably HAS to spend money.
Conrad is the American Dream. He turned a single cessna (paid for with race win earnings) operation into a global empire. He employs about 1000 people just in the airframe side. They buy the Boing airframes and build out the entire aircraft to their own specs. They even dyno the jet engines themselves.
They are top notch, every round a Kallita car wins triggers $3000 in charitable meals donations with their “feed America” roughly 30,000 meals everytime a Kalitta car turns on a win light.
$1000 each from Kalitta Motorsports, Kalitta air, and DHL.
I don’t know Doug, but I talk to him a lot at every race I go to. He is all class, as is their operation.

Replacing an entire TF car for Kalitta Racing is about the same as you or I dropping a single grain of rice from our lean cuisine microwave dinner.

I print T-shirts for Travis sometimes so I have a Google alert set and this came up…I gotta chime in.

He can be as flimsy and flamboyant as he wants after that pass. He usually isn’t that “excited” but was certainly on level none of us can comprehend. Love the guy, and he’s as gay as a three dollar bill, but come on he ran a .72 at 323 after a disaster rookie season with Lex and Gerta. Let him celebrate. He’s already admitted he’s embarrassed about it. Meanwhile, Gillette loved it.

He brought Kroger and Proctor and Gamble in this year. $$$. There’s a lot worst things we could be dealing with as a sport than a marketable, lispy, second generation driver who build a new team and is bringing new eyes and cash to the track.

Pretty sure he’s one of the few owners who made 6 figures this weekend and took care of his crew and people while sleeping at the track.

Yeah I’m not dissing on the guy, he was thrilled at that pass!
I just didn’t know about him other than his name before the interview!

Long timers are well aware of the Gene Snow “boys”…Spencer Massey came from that camp.

Racing always has its hidden little secrets.
For instance I don’t think anyone was surprised when PS World Champion Darrell Alderman was arrested for being the tri -State Coke kingpin…
