The first flaw in your logic is that this is a hobby. This is a lifestyle. Playing with trucks is a hobby;)

Sorry to hear or your loss.

Go ride a bike without em, report back. You'll have blue balls and walk funny for a week.
Funny, i see all kinds of off road bikers wearing regular shorts and t shirts.

I wouldn't ride a road bike if you paid me, no way I'm being associated with those pussies.

The CHP is a great career. I tried very hard to get that job when I was 21. There's a lot of competition & I went down to San Diego & went through all of the testing, but it just didn't work out. But every time I see a crown Vic or Explorer on the freeway I'm always thinking "damn I wish I had gotten that job". How cool would it be to work for the CHP in Needles & have Mohave & Havasu within a 1hr drive? Haha, oh well! I was just reading up on the new Explorers & it looks like the CHP is phasing out the crown Vic's & moving forward with the Explorers long-term.

I heard a couple of years ago that the CHP was going to be getting Explorers. I was surprised at the time, but I was told that the Explorer was the only car the CHP tested that passed their transmission portion of the testing. The guys that drive them, like them.

I watched a YouTube video recently of the CHP training with the Explorer. They talked very highly of the traction control & overall handling of the SUV. They look pretty bad ass going down the HWY too! Have a good day Scott![emoji111]️

The Explorers are nice but don't have the same feel when you're sideways in the corner... Or so I'm told:D Slowly phasing them in at my cop shop. They generally give them to the older... not really chasing anything crowd. I think it's more of a "don't want to break them right away" situation. I still would prefer a lowered Tahoe with minor suspension upgrades over the Explorer.

Not all those regular looking shorts are "regular". A lot of riders (at least from my time) had the chamois inserts. As stated, it will save your nuts and prevent croch rot.

I respect these road bikers over you dorks with spray misters and underwater neon lights on your boats. :D

As a fairly judgmental, intolerant and impatient person (something I'm trying to change) avoiding bikes on the road has never got me wound up. Some of you need serious help. :D

Don't forget about the lighted cup holders and fruit flavored beers.

It takes a real man to ride a bike 50 plus miles in one day. Anyone can sit in an air conditioned car and push pedals. Haters gonna hate.

I just dont like or appreciate them putting me in a position where i might have to decide die myself or kill them. And that traffic laws are not theirs to obey also.

Nice bike. Is that the specialized stump jumper 29er?

29er S-Works Epic. That was the Tour Divide race. An avalanche chute on the Whitefish Divide. Frame broke at the bottom bracket in the race.

That's a bummer, luckily specialized has a good warranty on their stuff.

Yeah, I had a brand new frame and suspension three days after the crack was discovered. That was the THIRD broken S-Works I've experienced. They replace the S-Works stuff, no questions asked. They actually gave me a brand new Brain Fade fork on my last S-Works. I sent it off to Specialized to be rebuilt by their techs. Fed-Ex lost it. Specialized replaced it.

Buying S-Works gives you some pretty unbelievable service. If you bring your bike in on Saturday, the shop is busy, they will take a bike off the work stand and put you at the front of the line. Seems kinda un-fair but thats what they're selling.

I'm building a new bike for my next TD run. A custom guy in California, John Caletti, Caletti Cycles. Ti HT with a Rohloff drive, Gates Carbon drive and a Lauf fork. Schmidt Son28 dynamo hub in front. Bitchin stuff.

Nice!! They just refuse to get it TOBTEK. They scoff us off and diminish our sport simply because they don't get the shorts.

Great stats! Thats a serious day.

We are actually in agreement. When I ride or (dare to ride) in areas with no bike lane, I know I am taking my chances. That is why I always default to being polite, aware, no music, be 110 percent in tune with my surroundings.

I just find it odd that something so pure, human powered and nearly perfect in its form, garners so much hate and disdain.

These things saved my life, gave me a future, gave me comfort and a family. Without them and their 100 percent loyalty, I would not be here right now.

I'm not a religious man, but this is my church.

This is your situation, not the situation for most riders that live in a large city's. Sounds like riding bikes is very important to you and that's great, but your enthusiasm cant cover for all morons that ride road bikes. Or mountain bikers. Had plenty of these dumbasses throw shit at me when riding my dirt bike on ORV trails. The hypocrisy runs deep with bicycle riders, on or off road. Don't try and defend every dumbass just because you have a passion for the same locomotion.

If you want to see these thousands of ignorant, self righteous, dumbass bicycle riders just google "critical mass". The videos will take you around the world just proving out why most people that don't ride road bikes hate bicyclists.

This shit happens once a month is Seattle. The last couple mayors have been pro bike and directed the cops to back off. Several motorist have been injured, cars destroyed etc. The last mayor tried to close a bunch of streets in seattle to car traffic, bikes only. Ballyhooed how great people were that road bikes instead of cars. The he had several bikes stolen, then voted out of office.

If you have anything sram they also have a great warranty on their stuff as I just found out last week. I broke 4 derailleurs in the last year so I finally called them and they said they would warranty it free of charge, I'm just waiting to get my new one now.

My newest road bike is a Specialized, S-Works, Roubaix with SL4 RED gruppo. Great stuff, Sram is awesome, functional and it works as it should.
