New wheels & tires for 240 Hallett?

Doing resto mod on a 240 Hallett by GT Marine. Not going crazy, but should be very clean and most "dated" stuff upgraded.

Refreshed the trailer, looking for suggestions on wheels and tires.

Very nice 240. Are you going wider on the fenders? looks like you have the originals. On my 210 changed the 14” rims to 15” and kept the same tire diameter also went to a 9” fender and lowered the fenders it a bit.

Based on research I did for a trailer build, 225/75R15 seemed to be a very common size with a lot of tire choices.

I’m a big fan of being able to find a tire should I need one and not running some non-standard size that no one stocks.

What the wheel looks like is totally up to you but I would avoid anything chrome. Polish or powder coated only.

As for tires, I’ve had good luck with Carlisle Trail Rite HD, but I’d try to go with Goodyear Endurance first.

You could also consider going to a quality car / light truck tire as well. As mentioned above, find something you like in a common size that's readily available. Wider fenders would definitely change the overall look of the trailer.

I’m running a 285/50R20 Nitto 420. They fit perfectly with a 20x9 +18 offset wheel.

On my sons 240 we did some trailer upgrades, originally tires were 205/75/15
First 2 pictures are where we started from.

Made new taller guide posts, wood and carpet to get up to rub rail height
Converted from drum to disc brakes
Converted brakes from surge to electric over hydraulic
New wider stainless fenders with new skirts and carpeting
New 225/75/15 Goodyear Marathons on original Raceline wheels
New winch
New jack

Nice work on your trailer. I'll probably leave the fenders the way they are, I know wider looks better. Do you think the tires you put on would fit with the thinner fenders? You didn't go wider with the rims, but looking at your pictures, your new tire size might be out past the edge of the thinner fender?

Don’t think the bigger tires would have fit with the existing set up. Now some of that may be due to the offset of the wheels. I did not like the look of the smaller tires as they stuck out too far with the stock fenders, bigger tires would be worse.

Tired of my issues with my Competitive, I had VM in Fresno build me another.These are 18” American Racing VN 507’s, tires are Vision Marine 265-40-18 ten plies. Doubt this trailer is gonna have the same issues in my lifetime
