Just busted open the latest issue of Westways Magazine.
Auto Club (AAA) lobbied and got a few of these new rules passed:
1. AB 62 Clarifies, or is supposed to clear up that a person can drive a vehicle with a front seat video as long as they can't view it.
I always though that was a law but evidently it needed a tune up.
2. AB 64 Impound lots must accept debit or credit cards.
Also communities may impound cars used in prostitution or illegal dumping.
3.Drivers license cost goes up from $28 to $31.
4. Vehicle license fees double. Amazing because this was THE issue Arnold ran on,, and it's back.
.065% up to 1.15 % of accessed value untill 2013 or is made permanent.
5. SB 240: An interesting new law is the Slow Down and move over law.
I read it that ya have to slow down and move to an adjacent lane when emergency vehicles are stopped with their emergency lights flashing, or simply slow way down and proceed with caution if no lane is available.
Now I thought that was the way it already was, but evidently this clarifies it furthur somehow, and adds Cal Trans trucks as emergency vehicles in this situation too.
