Just picked up this baja from a friend. Street legal cruiser. It's a '64 bug pan with a tube chassis. Has a 13B rotary motor with fuel injection. Runs good and looks cool.

Im sure ill buzz it around in the desert. I have a rzr which would probably blow the doors off it. But mostly just torture the town. Thing is fucking LOUD!

Nice. I like Baja bugs. I had a ported and re-timed 13B in a 900lb buggy. The motor would turn 13K RPM's at the snap of a finger.

Is the motor ported, bridge or street? The only thing that seems to quiet down a rotary is a turbo...

Looks like a lot of fun. The last baja I had was a few years "B.C." as in "Before Children" and it was only a 2276 motor.

tell you the truth I dont know what has been done to the motor. The guy told me (a good friend) that the motor and trans was rebuilt a while ago but has hardly any time on them.

Aside from sounding like a chainsaw on crack, I love rotary motors. Keep oil and coolant in them, and stay away from the pipes

Regardless of the build, the motor is a good fit in weight and power. It'll be fun out in the desert

It’s not that bad if you convert the rear seat into an oil tank.

Around 1997 or 8, my buddy had swapped over from a built type1 to a 13B, street ported and turboed. It was a JSC mid engine with no weight, and less travel.
Maybe second trip out, I saw what happens when you lose the oil seal in a turbo...He went up Olds, and it looked like the space shuttle launching
He never lost the motor, it was actually pretty dependable. He's long since sold it. Built a 5seater and that has one of my old ricky-racer 5 liters in it. Not as fast, but sounds good
