Started getting busy on the “new to me” dually today. Leveled it 1-1/2” in the front, debadged it, and removed the 4x4 fender stickers (which must have been put on during Friday afternoon shift @ GM...)

Next, ordering painted door handles, and a billet grille. Was thinking about color matching the front bumper white. What’s everyone’s preference, has anyone done this with a vinyl wrap instead of paint? I’ve also seen it done with plasti-dip / glossifier, but I don’t think that would hold up well on the front of the truck on river drives down the 40.

I’ve always loved a clean white truck with painted bumper caps, debadged, and dark tint. If I was a baller I’d order up some 19.5 Alcoas, but I still buy my underwear at Costco so that ain’t happening.

I did have bumpers wrapped on my 12 Ford. It really doesn't hold up well and the edges peal etc. Just have them painted than clear bra applied.

That’s the feedback I needed! Thanks

Very nice truck! I know it's a big SoCal thing to debadge it but I never really understood why.

I plasti-dipped/glossifier’d the bumper on my cummins. Worst thing I ever did. Rock chips like crazy, and wouldn’t peel off at all. The shit sucks to get off with a DA, it just plugs up paper.

Get as much of the chrome white as possible, especially on the front and rear bumpers. I'd pull them off and have them painted.

Please paint, rhino line, or otherwise coat the rear inner fenders post haste. It will make the truck look 1000Xs better.

If it were me I'd get black housing headlights, paint the grill shell and pop in the billet grill. Paint front bowtie black w/ plastidip.

Paint running boards all black. Add non chrome wheels of your choosing, done.

I actually like white monochrome with black trim without a billet grill myself. Especially if you plan on getting dark wheels.

Take the bumpers to the chrome shop and have them stripped, or find a painted work truck bumper and strip that before paint (that's what I'm doing). I had our paint shop spray my grill bars white over the chrome but he didn't scuff them and rocks and bugs have chipped them easily. I'm going to make a couple of panels out of aluminum and dimple die a few holes but will probably leave them brushed with clear to match the ford badge cover I just made.

I removed all the stickers and emblems as well. I still plan on getting some chrome plated plastic chain and attaching it to the hideously huge powerstroke badges from the doors, a la Flavor Flav.

I prefer the chrome passed on a new Z71 cause the white grill. The white handles are clean have 1 that way. 3 with the same front chrome like yours. Great looking truck you got either way you go...

Had the Bumper end caps on mine painted to match to break it up a little and did the black housing headlights. Of course the truck was black so it kind of blended in a little better then chrome.

My dad's 2014 has the all white grill and bumper. I'm kinda on the fence about it. I think it would look killer in a different color though.

My first thought. One of my customers swears by the burgers. I will try one next time seen her there for last 3 years or so and always someone waiting.

Yup I learned the hard way also. Had to use wd-40 and a scrapper to get it off

That’s a bad ass truck!

I spent a small fortune on the Recon website. Every light I changed out and it made a world of difference. Mine is white as well and I went with tinted lighting all the way around.

Sometimes a lot of small things add up to just the right amount of big things.

Not a very good way to sell burgers.

I'm 42, at this age I feel old especially on threads like this....because I like the chrome! I'm not painting my damn bumpers!!!

I don't get the painting bumpers as well. All that paint is going to chip off and look ugly. Chrome FTW.

Takes the JC Whitney catalog look away. Less accessories and badges make it look cleaner.

Working on getting the hook up on big wheels for mine. Going to 24's with 35 inch tires. Funny that they look like they belong on these trucks. Will post pic when I get them on.

Not true, you just need to have clear bra put on also.

Got the windows tinted this morning, and got an alignement after raising the front a few inches. The alignment changes drastically when you adjust the torsion bars, the rest of the internet thinks it’s fine but it throws it waaaay out of wack

Ordered new mirrors and white painted door handles this morning. Mirrors are 2015-2018 HD style that have white painted caps but retain the black mirror arms. I hate the way stock HD tow mirrors look when people paint the whole thing, arms and all. These mirrors have puddle / flood lights also the illuminate the ground and rearward, going to wire them into the reverse lights. They have a smoked clearance light on the front also, and the LED turn signal in the mirror.

Not sure which way I’m going with the bumpers and grille shell yet, chrome VS white. Going to get the white door handles and mirrors on first, pop the billet grille in and see if that’s a good stopping point or not...

That would be sweet, I hear they make the ride pretty rough though

Had the 19'5's and those "100k mile" towtruck tires on my 04 duramax crew dually. It did ride a bit rigid but not a kidney buster. It's a truck after all.

I did the American Force 19.5's Didn't want to mess with the weight of adapters and stuff on the 10 lug style wheels.

They make the 22's in direct bolt on now. (great looking truck by the way).

What are you doing with the old mirrors? If they will fit an 03 I might want them.

The "100k mile tires"... They got me with that one too. I did the sulastic springs in the rear, and some shocks. Took a minute to figure out the proper air pressure to run in those medium duty tires. Once we got that, it rode really well.

Are those 22's on your dually?

Well...apparently I’m an idiot (who’d have though, right?). Tint is waaay to dark at night, I thought I had done all my trucks with 5% but that’s not the case. Tint has to come back off and get re-done lighter, at least on the front windows. Bummer

They actually were at around 40k miles on them when I sold it and they still had a shit ton of tread.

Rims were 19.5 Alcoa’s.

I did powder coat on the bumpers and it has lasted 80,000 + miles and still looks great. I did the front grill wrap probably will not do that again. Wish there was more after market grills that included around the lights. Looks like in the pictures you are in Claremont if you are around the area I have a great powder coater close.
