They bought some over the counter trucks for shit in the rear back on a very small buy. But they have done that will all 3 brands. You will never see a power stoke power a tactical vehicle, gen set or marine anything.

I work for the DoD as an inspector of said items so go ahead tell me some more 2nd hand buddy stories.

Who cares I doubt they even go after that market. I will make sure next time I head to Iraq you can look my truck over. Guess what Cummins still break all the time including my 2006 and my dads 2007. It is usually that number 6 piston that melts...I wonder why?

You post like a Cummins owner. Really though tell me why number 6 melts most common, what is it about the superior design? Or the 53 block. Or why Cummins didn't anticipate head gasket issues going from the 5.9 to the 6.7. Or that brilliant dowel pin superior design.

Is this riverdavescummingsforum.com?

A million mile 12v has zero relevance to an 03+ common rail. If you’re lucky enough to not drop a valve seat, melt a piston from a hung injector, etc, you’re lucky, and that’s not considering replacing other shit. I’m sure there are a few million mile 12v’s out there, even those have had the KDP fixed which means it wasn’t 100% untouched. So what...to get a million miles out of any common rail, you’ll have thousands of dollars in replaced injectors, cp3’s, etc. Is a 6.7 cummins with 500k miles that’s consumed 7500$ worth of fuel system parts impressive? Nope. Any common rail will have the same issues.

I’m a cummins fanboy, but I’ve seen em all blown up. Who cares, they’re all pieces of shit for what we pay for them.

Million miles no parts equal liars most the time, besides there are 6.7's that have done it. My friend writes a lot of the articles for all the diesel mags. I also know all the editors since my old Dodge was on the cover of all of them. Dont believe everything you read. I also dont care about my "friend" diesel people lie more than anyone.

So you’re saying all the guys that say their new diesel gets 18mpg towing that 5th wheel and they don’t even know its back there....is fake news???

dammit!!! :D

I don’t know about 18, but my 08 got 13-15 MPG towing my little 29’ 5th wheel.
I used to laugh at my buddies with Fords and chevys as they argued about 8-10 mpg.

My dad just got 12.5 in his '13 2500HD towing their 30' 5er from Burbank out through Zion and southern Utah and up to my house in Paso Robles.......

Well, I wouldn’t go that far, but it never struggled on hills or anything like that. My 5er was a light 1/2 ton model cougar, so it wasn’t like it was any big load. I never had to take it off cruise going over passes.

Now with the boat behind it I really did have to be careful because you would forget it was back there.

I'm bored so here we go

I inspect Diesel engines for a living. I have yet to see a international or ford designed diesel in a generator, equipment or military vehicle yet. I see plenty of John Deere, Cats, Cummins, Detroit Deisels, and Onans every day. I wonder why.

plenty of different armored excursions in Iraq and Afghanistan, most were 6.0's which was kinda scary for peoples lives to depend on, but it happened (that's no 2nd hand buddy story)

blackmagic I honestly think youre on rear d, because if you were in country you would know better

My god you take this to a new level of stupidity. The F-series is used by the military. My friends sold the military master tuning to keep them from regen to prevent stranding soldiers. All brands...

You do know Cummins builds the motors for Nissan right? I wonder why

plenty of f-series used overseas, blackmagic is misinformed....or something, now they just purchase gulf country models that don't come with any emission's equipment to begin with

my apologies for the 1/2 page thread jack

Loved my dodge. However, I strongly suggest before you decide to buy call the dealership as a customer requesting a service appointment. My Chrysler Dodge Jeep just has a recording, states leave a message for call back, but they never call back. It is almost impossible to take the truck to the dealership as they will not talk to you onsite if a appointment is not scheduled, go figure. So I found a great independent, but I do not worry about warranty as it is past.
I’m going to say that’s probably an issue within that particular dealership.

I’ve dealt with a few.
Moss Dodge in Riverside (Adams exit) has always given me great service.

Now, the Jeep/Chrysler dealership that used to be in Norco... was a complete shit show!
We bought a new 300 there in 01 or 02? Something like that.
First I discovered it didn’t have the wheels it said it did on the window sticker.
Had to bust their balls to handle it.
The paint had some very slight blems that needed to be buffed out.
They sent it to an offsite car refinisher, who buffed the whole car, and buffed off half the pinstriping, lol.
To accent the already shitty deal, they left the radio on their labamba music set to 11, and apparently buffed the car with the windows down, because there was buffing compound all over the dash.
Needless to say the service manager heard about it. And seemed indifferent.
And before you Ford loving Dodge haters jump on this, I have a pretty good story about a Ford dealership and what was supposed to be a simple recall fix...so zip it:D

Or I can do better. What engine did ford install in the F-650 series from 2000-2015? Hmmmm
This would start a completely new shit storm of internet arguing. They used the 5.9 Cummins detuned to 500ft-lbs or the CAT C7 with 860 ft-lbs. The rest of the internet will have you believe the CAT motor is junk and the Cummins was way faster. My dad has an 07 650 with the CAT and it’s badass.

Point of the story is you will find people to say that any truck, motor, trans, boat is junk...

This is the only time I can use the phrase “you didn’t even know the boat was back there”....seriously I almost ran the trailer into stuff because you can’t feel it behind the 15k lb truck lol.

I have one friend that has done 3 sets of head gaskets on his cheby and he only has 200k miles. I have 300k and I have done an altenator and a fan clutch on my cummins.

I'm not saying ford and chevies are bad. But I am saying they don't hold up like the cummins. I've had 3 cummins. A 12 valve. A friend of mine has it now. A vp44. And now my 03. The vp44 an 01 did seem to have more power than my current 03 but the 01 was a 2 wheel drive, my 03 is a 4 wheel so there is parasitic loss.

I actually loved my cummins. Truck was a 2003 though and the rest of the truck was shit -
Here's a run down of my ownership experience
Bought it used at 70k. Nice looking truck. Not used for work, daily driver.

-Drivers side AC blew burning hot - blend door issue
-Fixed blend door issue - driver side AC still blew warm - turned out to be a freon leak, low charge makes passenger side warm. Fixed twice
-Tailgate welds came apart, causing exterior skin to separate from rest of gate. Fixed myself with a welder
-Dash shattered into 1,000 pieces at around 90k miles
-Welds on front doors began to fail where hinges bolt to doors, causing door sag. Hinge pockets breaking away from door structure.
-Front door window frames flexed allowing wind into cab at 70mph. Door would "peel away" from cab as wind forced its way in on freeway. No fix
-Rear diff went at 115k
-Trans needed torque converter at 100k
-Trans needed valve body
-Idler pulley was good for 50k before blowing apart and shredding belt
-2 water pumps in 150k
-Dash rattle developed, so crazy at idle sounded like a folgers can of rocks. Only fix was to wedge wood shims under heater box to take up slack and lessen rattle.
-AC compressor housing cracked - new compressor
-Constantly burned out rear tail lights - fix every 2 months
-Truck would "ding" and think door was open, switch tested good - in wiring somewhere beyond door
-Ripped seats at 100k
-Passenger A-pillar / grab handle ripped off when passenger was getting in truck, passenger fell to ground on ass - pretty funny actually
-Power steering hose blew at 100k
-Steering recall done - all steering linkage replaced at 120k.
-Rear of truck would actually get airborne and spin the tires when hitting bumps on the 405 at anything over 65mph - stock suspension stiff as hell!
-Paint clear coat failure (Metallic grey)

If your truck is an 03 you should be able to get around smog...With the newer stuff he returns them to stock every 2 years.
I do that right now with my tuner. My turbo is a killer bee. They never look at it. One guy kinda freaked because of my boost gauge and my egt gauge.

It doesn't surprise me that they don't notice a different single charger...Compounds I don't know.

Hahaha that’s a pretty epic write up. Yes, at the end of the day, it’s still a dodge. I know a lot of the newer ones have issues with water pouring down the a-pillar when it rains outside lol.

I can't throw stones about water leakage - my last 07 chevy had water pour in thru the 3rd brake light, and my current 2013 dually has water pour in from the clearance lights above the windshield. Their all built by the UAW !

Maxpros had a straight six diesel. So again not a powerstroke 7,3/6.0/6.4 engine.

Better yet. They don’t buy them anymore.

And saying that over the counter civilian trucks running convoys with contractors or DSS teams isn’t saying it’s a mil spec item. Should I post pics of CAG in Toyota Tacos in Eastern A-Stan in 2001?

Yup! Theyre all junk! You get good ones, and you get bad ones.

My current 2004.5 2500 Dodge/cummins/auto has gone like this:
-replaced ball joints, due to running 37" tires...about 4 times now (has 170K).
-Replaced the lift pump at ~85K

Thats it. Still on the 100% stock 48RE, never even checked the fluid let alone change it. Its been on 37's since nearly new. Its used as a chase truck, prerunner, tow truck and that's about it. It never leaves my yard with less than 10K behind it, with 3.73 gears and 37's. Has a turbonetics BB turbo, and a Smarty TNT, always set on 9.

Now my GM on the other hand...Ive fixed more crap than all my vehicles combined ever.

Theres good ones and bad ones in every lot!

This was way back when but still the scariest truck I have drove. In the first video that is me standing there in the Texas shirt. At the time it was the fastest 7.3 in the country.

That’s like bragging about winning the special Olympics. Even if you win you are still a retard.

You realize the max engines are international, right. As per your post #83 no international designed engines in military generators, vehicles.

So I wanted to give my two cents.

2017 2500 ram mega cab big horn ordered to my specs. Ordered June 1 delivered July 5th. Can’t complain about that. Anyways

When I bought my truck my good friend told me you can’t let this trucks just sit running at idle that’s what makes them clog up with all the new emissions bullshit. So I have never let me truck idle for longer then a few minutes. Some people sit a lot at idle and do work in there cab so they might have a lot of regen problems.

The suspension is stiff but you actually feel like your driving a truck and I actually drove ford and a Denali Duramax before buying mine and I thought the ram rode better IMO. I did change my suspension right away and went with a Thuren kit with King shocks and it rides amazing. Everything rides like crap on these California roads that need repairs.

I also read someone complaining about the pedal. Yes it doesn’t move when you step on the pedal but that is a $300 fix. Pedal Command is the answer plug and go it takes the lag out of the pedal.

I’m very happy and pleased with my truck I hope I can keep it almost 5 years like I did my excursion.

The real world that works for a living/defends your freedom does and they do not choose ford power plants, period.

Low rpm is where work is done.

You do understand that the engine you refer to as a Cummins is not the only engine they make. But one a many that are used from 4 cylinders to giant v12 or bigger engines.
That’s not a correct statement. LENCO BEAR’s run international andLENCO Beat Cats run Powerstroke. Dept. Of Defense runs several hundred Bear Cats over seas and EVERY BEAR CAT that PROTECTS YOU in the US: (Police Departments)

Here’s one of ours.
