i have a 21 ultra stealth with a 496. my last ride last week the motor lost some oil pressure and started making some wierd noises. I haven't had it diagnosed yet but that's going to happen pretty quick. I'm considering an upgrade from the 496. I guess my question is, if you guys were going to re power a 21 foot jet boat, what would some of your suggestions be for a motor. i'm like a lot of other guys i guess, i'd like better performance without spending 20k on a motor. thanks guys, can't wait to see some suggestions.

The stock gen 6 502 with some good heads and cam will yield some good #'s
I think widowmaker is getting close to
700 from one
I'll find the thread on it and post it here

outlaw,

thanks for the info. that would be a pretty cool set up. if i had to pay someone to build me this motor, what is a general estimate of cost. I know it's going to cost a good chunk. on another note, do you have any idea if my 496 is worth anything if I havent completely blown it up. thanks. i really appreciate the input

I agree on Outlaws opinion. My gen VI runs great. Pushes my pyle pretty. good. Adding the heads and the cam are easy. Just get the right headers so you can adjust the valves. In my case the solid cam I had was awesome but getting to the valves to adjust after a hard weekends run was a bitch. I had to remove the exhaust headers every time to remove the valves.

Straub could hook you up with a great Roller Hydraulic set up.

540 would be nice too, then a 572, then a 600, then then:D

Your 496 is a EFI set up right? You also would need a new EFI Set up. to go along with that.
