A little info . . . fishing focused, but applies to all boaters at New Melones and Berryesa . . . quarantining boats for 30 days . . .

I have a feeling this could be 'Quagga 2.0'. . . .

Believe the quagga mussel arrived in the US via the ballast tanks of ships from the Balkans area of Europe in 1986. Yes, it’s been a PIA for some, excessive growth on underwater gear etc. But damn, it’s been 38 years. Is there any freshwater body of water that does not have quagga now? Maybe Lake Dixon, near Escondido? You’re not allowed to launch a boat there, rentals only. Early on Lake Havasu appeared to stumble a bit when the quagga first arrived. The stripped bass population became somewhat inconsistent. But, that’s changed. The stripped bass and their primary local feed, thread fin shad, are each doing very well. Red Ear Sunfish? The world’s record was caught in Havasu. That record may likely be broken. Red Ear, aka Shell Crackers in other areas, like to feed on shellfish/mussels. The Quagga fits into their diet very well. Fortunately, most of the Red Ear caught in Havasu are released. But, I’ll be honest. I have eaten some and they are outstanding.

Unless we learn other wise about these Golden Mussels, I’d expect a similar outcome. But, since they arrived on the west coast, we’ll likely see them in our lakes first. If they a fresh water species?

Mussel inspection Nazis at Pyramid are probably dripping from below with excitement. Fucking lake is infested and they still have the inspections. "Yes we have found them but they were half dead so not able to reproduce " most BS statement I have heard.

How do they know they can't reproduce, were they serving on the mussels?

Sounds to me that we’re going to a a boat for every lake. Another excuse to have more boats !!
Yep and once you get it passed inspection for that lake. Never remove the tag!

Only problem with that is when the Nazi says it was tagged wrong. Even if it's impossible to remove the boat from trailer the way it was tagged wrong. Happened to a friend. He sold the boat after and gave up. It used to be a wait to get on pyramid on the weekends. Now it's almost impossible to get passed the inspection so lake has only a handful of boats.

Isn’t Pyramid part of the CA Aqueduct? If so, that comes from the CA Delta. How would you stop them?

It is posted that pyramid is infested. If you boat pyramid you cannot boat Naci within 30 days. But you still have to get past the inspection to boat pyramid. It makes no sense.

I specifically told the lady that and her response was yes they have found them in the lake. But they were half dead so they might not be able to reproduce. So you still have to pass to get on and if you do you can't go on any other ca lake within 30 days except piru. Because piru is infested as well.
