What's the verdict? I personally really like what they have put out so far

Pretty cool video where they tune their new song like each one of their first 5 albums

I'm just happy these guys are still around and doing it. I've been disappointed with some of their stuff, but these new songs seem so much better than previous efforts. These guys are getting up there. Pretty good that they can still do it. The other newer alternatives in music I like are not this level. These guys are legends. I consider myself lucky to still hear them play and come out with new music. They still put on a hell of a show too

I'll always love Metallica. They're from the SF bay area. I started working there late 80's. [emoji2]

I've always been a fan of Metallica and they are some of the most talented and successful artists still in the business. We are fortunate to still have them. While I'm stoked they have new music to enjoy, they don't sound as polished as they have in the past. That would be one of my only gripes with them. ;)

Metallica got me through a tough time in my life. Music has always had a huge impact on me..

I can remember the first time I heard Breadfan (favorite song)... Fade To Black blew me away with its layers. Nobody was doing that in Metal at the time.

I am very happy they are playing "hard" again...

That's the thing about bands... They need to be musicians first... they need to master their craft. I guess that is why I am also a TOOL fan.

Came here to post this same thing. Metallica has helped me through a lot of rough times... they could go country and I'd probably still be a fan.

So far i am OK with it! sounds good. Favorite all times songs are Orion and To live is to die. I can put those on repeat for hours and it really shows off their musical talents with the instrumentals.

I remember Breadfan when Budgie played it, listening to them on old LP's. Then Metallica remade it to another level.

If you like 70's rock, and can find the vinyl, Budgie was a great, under-rated band that no one had ever heard of.

Sounds good, I think the lyrics suck compared to the old stuff, but he isn't angry anymore so its hard to make "happy metal" :D
I like the return to the old style. I liked the black album because it was different and a masterpiece in its own right...but the stuff they churned out after that for MI-2 movies and god knows what else was horrible :thumbsdown. I actually liked some of the stuff off of their last album but the recording was so horrible (too hot) that it sounds like shit no matter what stereo you put it on. Funny thing is - if you listen to the available songs from the last album on the game Guitar Hero - they have a perfect, non-distorted remastered version that you could only wish was released to the public. I can't figure that one out

And yes Lars - looks, acts and plays like a little penis in that beanie :D

I love Metallica. They sound great even ver long time horizons not heard

But as I've grown older I prefer progressive rock played by masters of their instruments, songwriting, and craft.

I must be the only one who enjoyed the Orchestra album (can't remember the name). For a rock band to do that was awesome.

Look up the video when they did a mini concert in SF for their anniversary. They brought everyone back and played with some new people.

Absolutely love merciful fate!

Last time I saw them live, the band, by choice, didn't want alcohol for sale for the fans so, there was no beer to buy. Fuck the "new" Metallica. Long live Napster and the old, angry, bad ass Metallica. I wouldn't be suprised if they showed up in shants for their next show.
