I think it came out freakin awesome!! You can carry 7 now comfortably and still have a mid size performance cat!

What do you think of the boat?

I like it. Reminds be of the Eliminator that did something similar. The blue and white one. I think it was 2,2,4?

Good to see a builder using all the available space and not the same 2,4 seating.

I've always liked the "School Bus" seating. Baja did it on their 40' Outlaw. Outerlimits has done it on a couple boats and I believe there was a couple of the 42 PR Fountains that had it. Good use of room, especially on a sit down boat or a boat with a HUGE cockpit.

I really love the idea and layout. But would have to think performance would really suffer with 7 people in it? Could be wrong. In my 32 it’s a dramatic difference between 2 and switching to 5. And I have gobs more power.

That’s one bad ass boat. Love the colors and power combo. There aren’t that many performance boats that sit enough for a full family + stragglers. This does it pretty well.
Definitely like it better than the Donzi “bus” version.

Of course it's gonna suffer.. but when you want to run a crew with you it's possible now.

I must be the ONLY guy ever that looks at that and goes man how many people are going to fall on their ass as soon as someone steps off the upholstery. This is what happens when designers aren't kept in check.

Also I prefer a big cockpit just so I can move around and not be bumping into everyone. And as someone pointed out the change in handling when you put an additional 300 to 400 pounds of weight in those seats. Just because you can put 7 seats in doesn't mean you should. Look at that Donzi Cat they built a couple of years ago.

Eliminator

Nope no comparison! LOL I dont care for that at all. Seems youd be tripping over everyone. Maybe if they made the backseat like a Bench like the Fountain.

That Fountain cat is just badass. Maybe its the Carbon Fiber thats winning me over. LOL

Agreed, and would be amazing if you could easily remove the 2nd row of seats & open up the cockpit & still have a flat floor.
My tank is a WAY different boat with 5 people & fuel but I only have 600hp total.
These new Fountains are beautiful & heard very good things.

I like it and it is better that the Eliminator in my opinion, but how awkward is it to get in the drivers and passengers seat? I wish there were more pictures of the interior from inside the boat. I have never been on a cat like this though so maybe it is just something I don't know? Looks amazing though!!! The seat backs are bitchen!!!

I'm surprised none of the builders take a cue from aviation airline manufacturers and have the integral rail systems in the floors so as to be able to remove or rearrange seating configurations as desired. Possibly they do and I'm not aware of it.
Anyway, that rig is sick!

That’s a good idea. Tracks like this recessed into the floor. Anodize it black. That’d be sick. Could have different seat configurations, bolsters for poker runs, benches or lounges for hanging out.

My old Schiada doesn't have tracks, but it does have a 4 wing nut system to adjust and flip around seats etc in it.. I've always been surprised more Mfg's don't put more thought into this as well?

i think the execution of this cockpit layout is perfect. Seems very functional. Doesn’t look cluttered, clear walkway in the middle, not going to trip over a bunch of stuff. Proportions of the boat are still perfect, doesn’t look like the cockpit is super long compared to the bow. Some other OB cats it seems they just placed seats wherever with no rhyme or reason.

Bad ass and I cannot imagine what the insurance or fuel bill is on something like that.

Dave, how was the fit and finish on this? I heard a few accounts the 32? Cat they brought out a couple years ago was rough.

Then has anyone heard how well this 34 runs?

Speed On The Water mentioned the same thing about the 32 in their review of the 34. Sounds like its put together much nicer.

It’s funny you mention this. I recall seeing this on this forum board years ago and until this day, thought I was going crazy because I have not been able to find an image of it.
I would 100% do this and keep the closed bow.

Wilson Composites is the builder...reason that the quality is up on this 34. They also built the Donzi cat for Fountain. Bottom started life as a Maelstrom and Smart Marine took it from there. I believe he grafted a Doug Wright deck onto it. It was a 32 and Wilson Composites took it out to a 34.

@namba860 is because it actually in the water? and not a triple axle trailer?
I guarantee my boat sees the water more then probably 90% of the members on here. Last spring, summer and fall it was out every Friday and Saturday and now it looks even better heading to the ramp and back home

Some of you all are saying performance would suffer with the added weight. This is true, but how often are you going to do speed passes, balls out, with 6 passengers? Bottom line, a lot of the people in this market may have kids, and even (dare I say it?) grandkids. As much as we all like to think we'd roll deep with strippers and models, for most of us, that just isn't the case. This is a Calloway Suburban...it has room for more than two couples, but sure isn't a pontoon.

I'd take it. Thing would suit most families and ballers. Really good for the guy that has to drive an suv during the week, but would love a hot rod on the weekend.

This was a mock-up ... never actually built one
Ok makes sense why I never saw it again. And yeah, looking at the photo posted, that looks way tight. Maybe cocktail seats would have been a better option/possibility.

Very nice looking boat. I wonder how it runs compared to the other high end cats?

I think it was designed by Smart Marine in Florida. May have some Doug Wright influence too, not sure. Either way, not designed by Fountain.

Sorta... The very bottom running surface was designed by Smart Marine (designed as in slightly modified from the original Maelstrom design). This Fountain boat model originally came out of the original Smart Marine molds (32’ cat). The tunnel was widened slightly maybe 2-3” by taking away from the width of the spray rail inside the tunnel, added 45 degree angles at the top corners of the tunnel, made the tunnel slightly deeper, called it a 34’ because of the over hang “swimstep duck tail tunnel extension” hanging off the back. I know all this because I very closely followed the Smart Marine design and build AND I saw the original Smart Marine molds in person after they left the Fountain factory and they still had all the aftermath modifications partially on them.

Either way I prefer this Fountain over the Smart Marine any day. I think it looks better and it runs way better!

I’d actually prefer a 2+2+2 and a center step out of the cockpit to the stern. That way ya don’t have to step on the seat every time you exit.
