We had that same HyperLite infant vest and made a relatively easy change if you can sew. Remove the zipper above the velcro. We cut it open along the zipper above the velcro, cut down the zipper, folded it in removing a litter material and made it more of a V neck in the neck area for more clearance. The zipper now stops right where you have it, but the neckline of the vest opens up and won't bunch up under the chin nearly as much. I'd take a picture, but the vest is in AZ.

Thank you! We will try that! Have to get it next time we are out in AZ!

Worth noting get them in swim school at 1.

By the time my kid was 5 he had 4 years of swim school under his belt and was running on a rash guard and board shorts. :)

I need get my son into classes soon, he is 18 months, and loved the water last summer.

My kids were at the river pretty early. Now I look back and say why!
It is easier to stay around the house and let things settle out. No reason to push it and remember they will never remember the first couple years of the river.
I agree with most of this but then I see a pic like this and say that's why...my wife ad I will remember and my boys will see the pics.

The noise would be more of a concern for me vs the heat. Not much hearing protection made for ears and heads that small.

I have both of these and they work very well. Took our daughter to her first hockey game at 4 weeks old and she didn't even flinch.
