Nobody (And I mean NOBODY) has seen pics of this boat coming together. Point in fact I'm not even sure the guy putting it together knows I have pics of it yet.. LOL

This boat is 21' Long, 19' 3" running surface. These are being built as F2 Ski Race boats, as well as F3 (slightly different build for an F3 from what I understand).

They will also be available in a Pleasure version. The guys building it are flat hauling ass getting this program done. This was nothing more then a plug, I want to say a week and a half ago?

They already built the mold, and laid the 1st one up.. They are shooting to have the 1st one rigged & racing in Parker NEXT WEEKEND!!

Now the kicker for the RDP folks. It is "rumored" For an F3 style deal or lower powered Pleasure.. 150HP outboard, figure 60+ mph, 5 year warranty on EVERYTHING (motor included).. 45K on the trailer.

I think they are going to sell the hell out of these things, especially at that price.

I will have more information, rigging shots, and more shots of the boat as well as details on the hull, pricing etc.. After next weekend in Parker. I'm also gonna stick the gopro's on it and get some running footage if it's ok with the owner.

The newest edition of HIGH MAINTENANCE!!! The Island Marine team is bust'in ass from the looks of it. Look forward to seeing how she runs.

This should definately help the sport of ski racing and the F2/F3 class, making it affordable for the regular family that just wants to go out and ski.

What length is the original cyclone running surface. If this is 19' 3' and 21'0 overall is it smaller than the Nordic Cyclone?. I am hoping it has the same freeboard. Maybe the overall is the same with the transom moved forward for Center of Gravity. Looking forward to seeing it run next weekend.

according to carl this is an all new mold, nothing to do with a cyclone or a nordic. the new nordic cyclones are over 21 foot, at first look this boat has less free board then the new nordic which can be made as an out board or inboard. the old ones i believe were 19 and 21 running surfaces (australian made) they also have a 20ft model with maybe half the free board of the 21.

carl has the original hallett f2 molds that he recently purchased from hallett. they are a splash of an original cyclone in au.
from my understanding he will make the 21 f2 on demand at islander but this new boat is completly different then anything else out there and is not a splash of anything. although im sure they borrowed some ideas from something out there, he currently has an allison and a bernico.

I know I have a few calls to return but we just got the plug done 2 weeks ago and want to have the new boat ready for Parker. I appreciate all the calls and I will get back with you on Monday.

We have more freeboard than even the Bernico. We can build with wood or composite construction. I chose wood for this boat based on our experience racing these types of boats.
Both are great options but for the amount of stress put on the ski racing boats during extended high speed runs and under rough conditions, it has been my experience that wood, when properly sealed and protected, has outperformed the composite. There are number of factors to consider - it will be up to future owners to determine what they would like for their boating purposes.

It didn't blow over.. It went rolled over in a turn before the races 1st time out.

Where the whole program sits now.. I dunno. I haven't talked to Carl since the races.

I know the boat went out again with another driver, and turned some decent #'s, and the driver had nothing but good things to say about it. That's all I've heard so far. I don't know what Carl's & Rick's plans into the future are as of right now.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if any of these boats are up and running for this season? I know there was an "issue" at Parker last year, but I haven't heard any updates on it. I really like the look of the boat, and hope everything works out.

I have been out at Elsinore the past two weekends with Carl skiing behind this boat. The eboat runs and handles great and does some good numbers pulling a skier. Just a few more small things to work out and it will be great.

Strictly working off of 3rd or maybe 4th hand info... The blue boat has a 300x hung off the back, and should be a rocket.

Thanks for asking Dave.

Actually yes there have been significant changes made. Here are a few you may be interested in:

- Completely re-designed bottom hull including lifting strakes, full balsa core floor changes, and the open stringers have been eliminated for structural integrity.

- An entirely new custom power steering arrangement (using the economical Sea Star hydraulic system) and including an offset plate and quick release with a non-tangling trim system.

- A new 33 gallon aluminum ballast tank has been added with a 30 second dump capability.

These are just a few of the changes that were made. Posting new pictures for you to take a look. I am quite happy with the performance so far but am continually looking for new ways to optimize performance.

Hope to see you at the races!

What do you mean by a non-tangling trim sytem? And is the quick release as in, for the ski line off the transom?

Thanks

Probably as in " trim in wheel, non tangling"... would be my guess

So the wireless trim system came from Rex Marine (I do not know what they call it) and I modified it so all conections ran through the center of the wheel. Thus the actual steering wheel is on a quick release system just like race cars so that if you get in trouble and are wedged in you can get out.

Parker is the first race and with 33 gal of balist I will not need them. They will be on for Catalina and maby Lake Elsniore. They work well but Parker is fast and less weight in an F2 boat in flat water makes for higher top speed. I usual say for my F2 boats 100 lbs = -1mph and with the tabs and the pumps that is over 100 lbs.
