way back, Tony had the 29 Kavalks on display in Monaco and in Japan at boatshows. They are rare brcause of the low production numbers. Around sixty 19 foot Kavalk Classics were made, sixteen 29 footers, He built about 6 25 footers when he was still in Vancouver. If I remember correctly, the 19 Riva he restored were shown in Tahoe. He has been inspired by Riva, being exposed to those hence he's from Croatia. He lives in Ontario, catering to Muskoka cottage country wooden boat owners, doing restorations on many of his Kavalk Classics ended up there over the decades.
You guys would be impressed seeing this 29 from the early 90's, after Tony restored it for an American client. I rode these and it looks a feels fantastic on the water. It looks so different from the unrestored one I posted above. I wonder if anyone here knows the present owner 🤔

working my way down the list....was on a plane for three hours waiting for fuel in Chicago yesterday. Turn out it gets cold in chicago and diesel trucks dont like starting in -8. Who'd have thunk.

These are really cool. Im impressed without seeing in person. I'll discuss w the guys.

Thank you for that update. 👍 I'd noticed the Ventnor and Elite names, but didn't connect the acquisition or either company. That's going to limit the competition in that relatively limited market of selective buyers.
Is that white hulled boat with the hatches open behind the Ventnor a retro, or restored 19' Racing Chris Craft ? I can't tell if there's a 2nd seat behind the front or the hatch with the rear jump seat like the Chris 19' ? But the deck and hull sure appear the same.

I dont recall what that was, but Im inclined to think it was a fully restored Chris Craft racing boat.

It's two hatches.

The Ventnor was more of an aspirational piece than anything else. It's really only a 4 seat boat because 6 guys my size arent getting in it.

Super limited market - but it's mega cool.

There aren't many things Id rather be seen pulling up to a restaurant in.

Thank you.
I believe that's a 1940, Chris Craft 16' model they called a Special Racing Boat. Originally powered by a KBL131 with downdraft carbs, that one's been refitted with a V8.

Congrats on your endeavour Uncle Dave.
The concept is not new. My friend Tony Kazulin have been building his line of boats, the Kavalk and now Kazulin using sharp V fiberglass hulls with mahagony touches. I'd love to have his 25 Adriatic if it wasn;t so damn expensive.
Some pictures here.

Ive seen the Flatbottoms in the founders storage - I'll bet it beat the crap out of you.

The ones we're building are based off a V bottoms for that exact reason.

That’s great…. I had the 20 foot Elite Flatbottom and there was second generation with a V bottom also.

The old flatbottom ones put off many wood boat enthusiasts buying one.:)😂
I like the Current and the Epitome models the most. Modified V will improve the ride compared to the old ones.
My friend's Watercar is a great boat with the V-8, but it's a lake boat like many of those old ones and gets a bit rough once the lake gets choppy or the waves we have here sometimes grow large.
I think the ones would appeal to new buyers are the one that has an open seating layout. Local guy has a 19 ChrisCraft Capri I almost pulled the trigger buying it, albeit having the bullnose I'm not found of. I has the front bench that divides the driver from company in the back. There should be a split bench so you wouldn't need to climb over in the Luxe! .
The 25Kazulins front bucket seats are reversible by flipping the back on its hinged machanism. It has an amzing space for picknicing out on the lake for 5 people.

UncleDave,
What kind of performance are we talking about Ilmor powered?

These are setup a little differently than I would do it if they were mine.

Where I would have biased the deal toward the top end they went the other way as the standard setup.

All are setup to come out of the hole pretty hard and be able to ski and tube easily with while full of fuel and peeps.

Getting 7 boats ready for the show we just barely got time to shake them down. We'll see what we can get out of them this summer.

slight thread jack but Just a question is your friend with "water cars" or simply owns one ?
He owns this 1923 WaterCar, built by the Dodge Brothers. It was a total restoration done by absolute Classics in Kelowna British Columbia.

Owning a boat with wood, even with fiberglass hull like this old 19Kavalk, cost $$$ refurbishing.
Tony posted these pictures of the boat he built in the 1990, refinishing it with some new touches.
